The Custom Applications Development Unit within the Section of Genomics & Bioinformatics Services in the Department of Information Technology has an opening for a Lead Analyst/Programmer to lead and develop a set of analytics capabilities for the Research Labs and Bioservices business that our RLIMS team supports. Mayo was awarded the All of Us grant resulting in the creation of a national biorepository and a need for analytic capabilities to help run the program. This National Biorepository provides samples for genomic and other research needs now and in the future. A candidate that can help implement an analytics system that aggregates data across multiple systems, creates reports, builds dashboards and allows laboratories to gain business insight is key. The candidate will serve a dual role within the team serving both as Lead as well as Data Analyst. The successful candidate will be responsible for project results and goals set by section and division leadership. This position requires close collaboration and coordination with our Biorepository and Molecular Genome Facility labs and other supported research labs as necessary. The candidate will work with Lab Directors, Supervisors and closely with other RLIMS IT Leads in order to deliver these new analytics capabilities. In partnership with the business, this position will be responsible for defining immediate and strategic priorities and maintain high customer satisfaction through delivery of successful projects aligned with priorities. In addition, the position will require a high level of understanding of research systems and how data supports and relates to the business. Data analysis, user story development and solution design will be critical to success.
The successful candidate is expected to have experience with data analysis, data visualization and analytics projects preferably with a healthcare or laboratory organization.
Successful candidate will assist the Technology Manager with various administrative tasks such as managing customer relationships, creating and managing good practices, standards and processes. As the team considers new data platform (Google Cloud) and other data delivery mechanisms, the successful candidate will be expected to become drivers of these changes. This individual will also help with personnel management of the team. Candidates must be willing to stay in the position for a minimum of 2 years.
- 4+ Years of demonstrated leadership experience
- Experience with Data Analytics and Business Intelligence tools, processes and projects
- Experience with Agile Development Methodologies
- Experience with Lab data and reporting will be considered a plus
- Experience managing complex projects

This is a full time telework position within the United States. Mayo Clinic will not sponsor or transfer visas for this position.
Accountable for project results and goals set by senior Mayo leadership and provides updates to IT leaders on long-term goal attainment. Directly oversees the activities of the members of the team assigned to the development and maintenance of software-based systems in the supported areas. Provides leadership for the design or selection of solutions, creates and/or implements cross-functional project teams (intact or virtual), and brings together the hardware, software, and personnel responsibilities for implementing solutions to support a customer area. Develops proposals that consider alternatives and business case, and gains needed institutional approvals utilizing strong understanding of financial concepts, business processes, continuous improvement, and organizational development. Works effectively across departmental organizations gaining consensus of stakeholders. Partners with customers to understand their business needs and ensure the activities of the team meet their needs. Assists the Unit Head in personnel management and supervises staff on projects and assumes supervisory responsibilities for Unit/Division staff as assigned.
Manages projects requiring substantial inter-organizational and intra-organizational coordination. Understands project management methodology and works effectively with Project Managers and the project management offices where appropriate. Interfaces routinely with colleagues who may be located at any of the Mayo Group practices to perform job responsibilities requiring virtual collaboration and partnership.
May serve on institutional committees as member, assistant secretary, or secretary. May be required to provide 24/7 on-call support.
Bachelor’s degree and 5 years’ experience including 3 years’ of demonstrated leadership experience;
Or, Associates degree and 9 years’ experience including 3 years’ demonstrated leadership experience.
Evidence of strong communication, organization, problem solving, and facilitation skills.
Demonstrated interpersonal skills including conflict resolution. Demonstrated history of continuing education in personnel and administrative processes. Experience with committee and consensus driven organizations. Some experience with personnel management, resource allocation, coaching and mentoring.
Experience working in healthcare technology. Exposure to managing both custom developed and vendor-supplied applications. Masters degree in applicable field preferred.
Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum salary every 2 weeks is approx $3,496.00, based on a full-time position.
Full time telework.
Monday - Friday, 8a - 5p.
