Mayo Clinic - La Crosse, WI is seeking candidates to fill an IT Telecommunications / Network Specialist role. The incumbent's work is primarily responsible for programming phone systems, and telecom wiring. Avaya experience strongly preferred. Paging system or Cellular Distributed Antenna System (DAS) experience is very desirable.
Position description
Responsible for the installation and problem solving related to the infrastructure hardware or software of the Avaya Telephone Systems and applications as well as paging systems and cellular distributed antennae systems (DAS). Under general supervision, configures, installs, monitors, diagnoses, and repairs enterprise telecom equipment and endpoint devices. Installs and upgrades equipment according to specifications and needs of the customer. Prioritizes tickets and requests based on established prioritization policies and practices. Responsible for internal escalation during outages or periods of degraded system performance. Interfaces with customers during outages where the loss of service may have a serious impact on the ability to do their job. Provides input to the testing of new products. Provides input to telecom engineers on supportability of products. Occasionally works under stressful conditions, participating in implementations and troubleshooting efforts that may have significant patient care and/or financial impact to the organization. Demonstrates knowledge of basic telecom monitoring and management tools. Provides input to coworkers evaluations. Participation in a 24/7 on call-support rotation is required.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline or an Associate's degree with a minimum of 2 years professional technical work experience. A minimum of 4 years of professional technical experience required for individuals without a degree. Other Qualifications: Knowledge of telecom/network protocols, 7-layer OSI model, software, hardware, and cabling systems. Must be able to work with minimum direction and work effectively in a team environment. Must be customer focused and possess excellent communications and interpersonal skills to interact with a variety of personnel at various levels within and outside the institution. Good organizational and time management skills are required to handle the workload and prioritize repairs. Solid analytical and troubleshooting skills are also a necessity.

Compensation Detail
Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum pay rate is $23 per hour.
