Position description
The Nuclear Medicine (NM) Division of the Department of Radiology at Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, AZ seeks an ABR board-certified (with either CAQ in Nuclear Radiology or ABNM certification), fellowship-trained NM radiologist interested in joining a growing subspecialty-focused team practicing in a collegial and supportive academic atmosphere. The division currently consists of 3 NM radiologists and several collaborating Nuclear Cardiologists, interpreting general NM, PET, Nuclear Cardiology, skeletal survey CT, and performing NM-related procedures and therapies (including Lu-177 dotatate, Lu-177 PSMA). The new colleague will enjoy a NM position that prioritizes clinical care, while offering exciting research and educational opportunities.

The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years post fellowship NM imaging experience with more than 80% of time devoted to NM imaging, procedures and therapy, with proven excellence in clinical practice, education, and leadership. Exceptional candidates will hold current rank of Associate Professor or Full Professor, have significant previous research and leadership experience, outstanding clinical expertise, and a strong history of broad interdisciplinary collaboration with specialties including other divisions within Radiology, as well as Oncology, Cardiology, Neurology, Gastroenterology, General Surgery, Urology and ENT. Individuals with funded research, or interest in establishing a small animal research program, are encouraged to apply.

The Department of Radiology at Mayo Clinic Arizona currently has 50 radiologists, 5 physicists, 16 residents and 6 fellows. By 2022, we plan to deploy a NM fellowship for 1 candidate per year. Our residency program is top ranked, and we anticipate growth in both residency and fellowship positions. The NM Division enjoys strong allied health and administrative support. NM equipment includes 2 PET CT scanners (with approval for a 3rd), 1 PET MR, 5 SPECT CT, 2 DSPECT, 1 SPECT, 1 molecular breast imaging camera, 2 uptake probes, and 3 hot labs. We also have an onsite cyclotron with one PhD level radiochemist and support staff, which produces multiple clinical and research radiopharmaceuticals.

The ongoing Mayo Clinic Arizona campaign entitled “Arizona. Bold. Forward.” commits $750 million to double the size of the Phoenix campus, resulting in 375 inpatient beds and adding 1.4 million square feet to the campus. Mayo Clinic Arizona is consistently ranked No. 1 in the state of Arizona by U.S. News & World Report’s Best Hospitals and is the only Arizona hospital on the prestigious U.S. News Honor Roll (No. 16 in the U.S. overall). License or certification
Candidates must have completed a full residency in Diagnostic Radiology and hold ABR certification, as well as at least a full year fellowship in NM imaging.
