Position description
Nurse Practitioners or Physician Assistants provide 24/7 practice coverage of the Fairmont hospital in 12-hour shifts, 7 days on/7 days off. The NP / PA’s serve as an independent provider, collaborating with an on-site physician – teaming up to care for patients on the medical/surgical floor, progressive care unit and transitional care unit. NP PA’s complete admissions, provide comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, ordering, conducting and interpreting diagnostic tests, prescription of pharmacological agents, referrals, patient education and complete discharges. Orientation will take place in Fairmont, as well as the medical/surgical floors, progressive care unit and intensive care unit in Mankato. Mayo Clinic values the skills and expertise of our NP PA’s and our goal for you is to be able to practice safely and confidently as an independent provider within our Fairmont hospital. Qualifications
Masters prepared graduate of an accredited school of nursing and Nurse Practitioner. Current Minnesota RN license and certification as a FNP or ANP.

Or graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program with current PA certification by NCCPA and licensure as a PA by the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice.

Additional qualifications
Possess ability to work independently/autonomously and interdependently with other health care professionals. Have extensive patient assessment skills using diagnostic methods and instruments and passes ability to develop appropriate plan of care, modifying as indicated. Possess effective communication skills and interpersonal skills with patients, families and members of health care team.
