Position description
The CV Surgery Mechanical Circulatory Support Device (MCSD) program is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to work with our multidisciplinary team of physicians, nurses, and NP PAs in managing care of patients with Left Ventricular Assist Devices (LVAD) in the outpatient setting. The position involves providing consultation and evaluation of heart failure patients for LVAD implantation in both the inpatient and outpatient setting and long-term management of the patients after LVAD implantation. The provision of care includes, but is not limited to: comprehensive assessment and diagnosis, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, prescription of pharmacological agents and treatments, and determining the ongoing plan of care for this medically complex patient population, ensuring comprehensive communication with members of the patients care team, and providing support for external medical providers and facilities caring for the LVAD patients in both emergent and non-emergent situations. Ability to assist in research, education, and quality improvement projects are available. No call or holidays. This is a Monday through Friday position. No call or holidays.
Qualifications
Masters prepared graduate of an accredited school of nursing and Nurse Practitioner program. Current Minnesota RN license and certification, or eligible to be certified, as a NP (certification must be obtained within 6 months of employment date). BLS certification required. Prescriptive authority required. Establishes and maintains current practice agreement with collaborating Mayo Clinic Rochester consultant physician(s). Two years of acute clinical experience with patients on MCSD preferred or,

Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program with current PA certification by the NCCPA and registration as a PA by the Minnesota State Board of Medical Practice. BLS certification required. Prescriptive authority required. Establishes and maintains current practice agreement with collaborating Mayo Clinic Rochester consultant physician(s). Two years of acute clinical experience with patients on MCSD preferred or, Graduate of an accredited Masters of Nursing program with a clinical nurse specialist focus plus five years of successful work experience in nursing with two years in the specialty area. BLS certification required. Prescriptive authority required. Establishes and maintains current practice agreement with collaborating Mayo Clinic Rochester consultant physician(s). Two years of acute clinical experience with patients on MCSD preferred.

Ability to do intense activity over a prolonged time. Support the efforts of all team members towards goal of patient care and specific objectives of the service. Maintain long-term professional relationships with patients/clients in difficult circumstances including poverty, grieving, anger, etc. Demonstrate and model compassionate behavior to patients, staff and community.

Compensation Detail
Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.  The minimum salary every 2 weeks is approximately $3,809.60, based on a full-time position.
