Position description
The Department of Orthopedic Surgery seeks a Nurse Practitioner, Clinical Nurse Specialist or Physician Assistant to join their dynamic Orthopedic Trauma Surgery team. The NP, CNS or PA collaborates with a variety of Orthopedic staff consultants, fellow/senior residents and multiple medical specialties in all aspects of patient care. This position involves practice in the ED when the service is on call, as well as inpatient and outpatient care responsibilities. The position is also responsible for diagnosing, interpreting laboratory studies, reviewing radiographic images, and performing physical assessments. Hospital rounds may be required by the assigned service. Opportunities also exist for coverage of other Orthopedic services, independent clinical practice, and research.

Potential to participate in research and publications depending on the assigned service and the needs of the Department. At this time, no after-hours call is required, but may be instituted at a future date.
Masters prepared graduate of an accredited school of nursing Clinical Nurse Specialist or Nurse Practitioner program. Current Minnesota RN license and certification as a APRN.

Or graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program with current PA certification by NCCPA and registration as a PA by the Minnesota State Board of Medical Practice.

Must be eligible for DEA registration.

Additional qualifications
Completion of BLS course required and ACLS preferred. One to two years of clinical and/or surgical experience preferred. Consultant specific training will be provided.

Ability to problem-solve, work independently, and assume responsibility for inpatient/outpatient interaction. Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills for effective interactions with patients, family members, and colleagues in multiple disciplines. Strong organizational and time management skills are essential.
