Mayo Clinic in Arizona has an exciting opportunity for a supplemental Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or a Physician Assistant to join the Transplant Center The Mayo Clinic Kidney Transplant Program is the 2nd largest adult program in the nation by volume.
Position description
The Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant works collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team and is responsible for providing comprehensive care to general nephrology patients and those who are pre and post kidney transplant. Primary responsibilities include managing care in the outpatient or inpatient setting, providing on-going support and follow-up, and coordinating care across multiple internal and external providers. The Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant practices within the guidelines of division of nephrology, the transplant program and the institution . Responsibilities also include giving direction to various allied health staff. Tasks may include: comprehensive assessment, ordering, conducting and interpreting diagnostic tests, formulating a diagnostic impression, developing and implementing a treatment plan, monitoring the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions, prescription of pharmacological agents and treatments and non-pharmacological therapies, and offering counseling and education to meet patient needs.
Qualifications
Acute Care Nurse Practitioner:
  • Must be a graduate of an accredited university.
  • Master of Science in Nursing required.
  • Must be licensed or eligible to practice as an CNP in the State of Arizona. Must have national certification.
  • RNFA is NOT required.

Physician Assistant:
  • Must be a graduate of an accredited university.
  • NCCPA certification required.
Must be licensed/certified or eligible to practice as PA in the State of Arizona.
Additional qualifications
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability.
  • Flexibility to adjust schedule to meet patient and staff needs.
  • Ability to manage time and stress effectively and adapt to unpredictable situations within the patient care setting.
  • Two years of clinical experience preferred.
  • Kidney transplant experience preferred.
  • EPIC, Electronic Medical Record preferred.
License or certification
For Both Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants: Maintains prescribing and dispensing privileges in Arizona. Must provide DEA certificate upon hire. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required upon hire and must be valid for 90 days or greater from the start date.

Must provide evidence of application for DEA certificate upon hire, obtain DEA certificate within 90 days of hire, and maintain certificate thereafter unless waived by department/division.

Basic Life Support certification is required upon hire and must be valid for 90 days or greater from start date. Maintains Basic Life Support (BLS) competency.

Maintains ACLS certification required.
