Position description
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Mayo Clinic Health System (MCHS) in the Southeast Minnesota (SEMN) and Southwest (SWMN) Regions are seeking a full-time obstetrician to join our practice in an OB hospitalist role. The Family Birth Centers across our MCHS sites are primarily staffed by physicians and advanced practice providers working in a team-model with Certified Nurse Midwives and Family Medicine physicians at some sites. SEMN sites include Albert Lea, Austin, Faribault, Owatonna, and Red Wing and SWMN sites include New Prague. The SEMN & SWMN regions Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology consists of 19 board-certified physicians and 20 advance practice providers providing team-based care to a rich patient mix within the SEMN region.

The hospitalist will cover call within SEMN & SWMN region. This position will be responsible for covering 1-2 weekend call shifts per month as well as 1-2 week night shifts per week.
Practice Model:
- Responsibilities include coverage of labor and delivery as well as in house and ER consults.
- High risk patients are transferred to Mayo Clinic Rochester
License or certification
Preferred candidates will be board-certified or board-eligible obstetricians with a demonstrated commitment to obstetrics education, research, and quality improvement. The successful candidate should expect to progress in academic rank through an appointment to the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine with opportunities to secure teaching and examining privileges.
