Position description
To provide and assist with the direct care of the elderly resident. To assist with activities of daily living, promoting the highest practicable level of physical, mental and psychosocial well-being. To have a working awareness of state and federal regulations. Responsible to provide direct care duties in a timely manner, interact politely and professionally with Health Center residents, family members, visitors, and staff. Float to other areas of Charter House.

Previous experience not required. Must be 18 years of age.

Must commit to work minimum of 10 weeks AFTER 2 weeks of orientation. (total of 12 weeks) Ideal start date is mid-May with an end date of end of Aug, but dates are flexible to accommodate schools schedules as long as the 12 week minimum is met.
Additional qualifications
Previous experience with the geriatric population is preferred. Must be able to work independently. Requires good communication and human relation skills to interact with Health Service and Charter House staff. Strong problem solving skills are necessary. Must be able to adapt to unpredictable situations and stress. Works varied hours which may include days, evenings, nights, holidays, and weekends with rotating days off.

License or certification
Nursing Assistant Certification required and must be listed on the MN Nursing Assistant Registry.

Compensation Detail
Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum pay rate is $14.82 per hour.

Schedule details
Summer interns are scheduled 40 hours/per week and must be available to work days, evenings, nights and weekends.

An ideal start date would be mid-late May (but start dates are flexible to accommodate school schedules.) with an end date in mid-late August

Summer employees are expected to work a minimum of 10 weeks (after 2 week orientation) and must plan on returning to school in the fall.

Ongoing supplemental opportunities may be available for those with strong performance wishing to stay on throughout the school year, if the candidate is able to commit to fulfilling the supplemental requirements of working a minimum of 24 hours per month.

Summer interns should not expect vacation/days-off to be approved during their summer employment. Summer interns may request up to 5 days off (unpaid) during the internship period, and are to be requested at the time of hire, (or, 60 days in advance.)
Weekend schedule
Every-other weekend.

8 or 12 hour shifts.
