Position description
Join the growing Palliative Medicine Program at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. Mayo Clinic is an internationally respected health care institution that engages in clinical practice, research and education at its best.

Palliative Medicine at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota is embarking on a substantial and exciting expansion program and is looking for a board certified/board eligible physician interested in developing a robust and diverse academic career in palliative medicine.

Newly incorporated as an Independent Center for Palliative Medicine, Palliative Medicine at Mayo Clinic consists of a core group of 8 full time palliative medicine physicians from multiple backgrounds, along with 7 part-time physicians from multiple disciplines and departments, including Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Oncology, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and Psychiatry. The Center for Palliative Medicine at Mayo believes strongly in a team-based, interdisciplinary approach to care and this is reflected in our large team of 8 advanced practice clinicians (NP/PAs), along with social work, chaplaincy, music therapy and pharmacy colleagues.

Mayo Clinic has an active, interprofessional inpatient palliative care consult service that will soon expand integrated palliative services within our existing collaborations in complex cardiovascular disease groups, intensive care units and with specialty oncology/hematology practices. New colleagues can also look forward to the development of an independent inpatient palliative care unit in 2018. The Center for Palliative Medicine also offers opportunities to care for patients in a vibrant, full time, fully staffed outpatient palliative medicine clinic, serving complex, severely ill patients with a broad range of diseases.

The Palliative Medicine Program supports an ACGME-accredited fellowship in Hospice and Palliative Medicine that attracts outstanding candidates from all over the country. Colleagues are actively involved in teaching residents and fellows as well as the pursuit of clinical and translational research projects. This growing academic practice provides the supports for new faculty to develop their own unique and diverse academic and educational pursuits. This is paired with dedicated support for clinicians sustainability and unmatched financial support for CME. Mayo Clinic excels in teamwork and interdisciplinary care, and providers have unparalleled access to subspecialty care and a variety of diagnostic and therapeutic modalities.
