This is a unique opportunity for Patient Care Assistants to be part of the Mayo team. This position will support the Medical Surgical department and assist with patients in our inpatient settings, Flu shot clinic, 1:1 care, and various other roles that will meet the needs of the patients.
Nursing students preferred. We offer flexibility with scheduling. Floating regionally may be required.
The Patient Care Assistant assists staff with delegated tasks of direct and indirect patient care which supports and complements nursing practice under the supervision of a registered nurse. The Patient Care Assistant carries out delegated skills that are within those functions limited by law to unlicensed nursing personnel.
18 years old and completion of 12 college credits or High school Diploma/GED with successful completion of a Nursing Assistant training or equivalent.
Certified Nursing Assistant on State of Wisconsin Nurse Aide Registry in "non-expired" status (preferred). Patient care skills, knowledge of infection control and safety procedures, medical terminology, strong verbal and written communication skills. Requires independent judgment, a high level of motivation, accountability, flexibility, interest in patient care, and compassion for people.
License or certification
Maintains current Basic Life Support for Health Care Provides from one of the following programs; American Heart Association or American Red Cross. If a candidate does not currently have their Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers from one of the following programs: American Heart Association or American Red Cross the Basic Life Support, certification will be included as part of the orientation program.
Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum pay rate is $15.24 per hour.

Hours and shifts will vary, flexibility with scheduling is available.
This is a limited tenure position, with an anticipated end date of December 2021. End date subject to change.
Weekend hours are negotiable and flexibility with scheduling will be considered.
