Position description
Therapists are responsible for the application of current knowledge, theory, evidence and sound clinical judgment in patient management. The therapist works closely with the patient, family and other members of an interdisciplinary team to provide efficient and effective individualized patient care. Therapists also serve as advocates and promoters of health, wellness, and fitness to all stakeholders. They serve as educators and mentors for therapy students, peers and other medical professionals. The physical therapist assists with department and program planning. This position is a split between two locations and patient populations where the therapist will rotate on a quarterly or half year basis. At the downtown location, in the Mayo building, the therapist will work primarily with patients who have orthopedic concerns and potentially work in specialty practices with patients experiencing vestibular issues or who have had an amputation. The second location will be in the Emergency Department where the therapist will provide immediate PT needs to patients entering the ED. The therapist will also provide any coverage, as needed, in the St. Marys Outpatient Clinic (ortho focus), the Complex Interventional Unit and the Post Anesthesia Care Unit. The therapist will also work with patients in the Saint Mary’s Hospital in order to reach a full caseload each day. This position is scheduled Monday-Friday from 8-5 or 9-6 based on the needs of the department. Additionally, the position requires working every 4th weekend supporting the hospital therapy practice.
Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy program. Licensed or eligible for licensure in the state of Minnesota as a Physical Therapist.
Additional qualifications
Demonstrated skills in the areas of organization, communication, interpersonal relations, leadership, decision making and problem solving.

Prefer board certification in clinical specialty area and/or advanced degree in health care field.

Also prefer active participation within professional organization.
License or certification
Current physical therapy licensure in the state of Minnesota.

Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.  The minimum salary every 2 weeks is approx $2,919.20 based on a full-time position.
