Position description
Designs and develops biomedical-related engineering systems, solving difficult problems in imaginative yet practical ways while striving for novel and elegant solutions. Acts as a technical leader for complex and ambiguous projects, working with a project manager to plan the project and overseeing successful completion of the technical work. Directs and coordinates the work of other staff. Is a technical expert in one or more engineering disciplines. Is expert in the use of engineering software and hardware, including modeling and analysis tools. Leads evaluation of new technologies and selects and specifies capital equipment. Leads other engineers and management in developing and implementing strategic and tactical solutions to improve operations and performance. Has a comprehensive knowledge of the Division’s quality management system and provides expertise in safety risk management and regulatory requirements. Is a self-starter who excels in a multi-disciplinary development environment. Communicates effectively in writing, conversation, and formal presentations at all levels of the Mayo Clinic. Presents technical information at internal and external conferences and seminars and publishes articles in peer-reviewed journals.
BS in Engineering or related field with 10 years of related experience; Or MS in Engineering or related field with 8 years of related experience; Or PhD in Engineering or related field with 6 years of related experience. Minimum of 4 years’ experience leading technical project teams is required.
Additional qualifications
Masters or PhD preferred.

Strong C/C++/C# programming skills.

Demonstrated ability to engineer system control and data interfaces with a base station.

Demonstrated ability to develop test procedures and execute test cases.

Expertise using scopes, logic analyzers and programmable test instruments to test, troubleshoot and debug complex embedded systems.

Familiarity with digital and analog circuit design fundamentals.

Familiarity with Keil ARM development tools.

Familiarity with Microsoft Visual Studio (C#).

Some familiarity with IEC 62304, CFR 820 and ISO 14971

Demonstrated ability to write clear, concise design documentation.

Demonstrated ability to work constructively in a collaborative development environment.

Compensation Detail
Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.  The minimum salary every 2 weeks is approx $3,922.00, based on a full-time position.
