Quality Specialist II - Divisional Ops Support Unit

Position description
Provides Division-wide oversight of the quality and efficiency of laboratory tests, products, and services. Ensures the quality system essentials are in place and that the Division's Quality Plan is followed. Provides quality management training and education. Represents the Division in all regulatory/accreditation inspections and oversees the Division's proficiency testing programs. Performs internal audits, LEAN assessments, root cause analysis, error and trend analysis, etc. to identify opportunities for improvement.

**A two-year commitment to this position is required**

Bachelor's degree in clinical/medical laboratory science (CLS/MLS), medical technology (MT), chemistry, biological science from an accredited institution or bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in addition to a certificate in MLS. In histopathology or non-testing laboratories, bachelor's degree with laboratory certification if applicable. Four years of relevant laboratory experience; or a Master's degree from an accredited institution in chemical, physical, biological, clinical laboratory science or medical technology and two years of relevant laboratory experience. A HEW certificate may be substituted for the specified degree. Other clinical laboratory specialty certificates will be reviewed and approved on a case by case basis.

Additional qualifications
In-depth experience of quality management concepts and regulatory/accreditation requirements. Experience with audit or inspection process. Self-motivated, highly organized, efficient, and ability to exercise strong decision making skills. Prior experience as a quality specialist is preferred.

License or certification
ASCP or other certification pertinent to the laboratory field may be required depending on the laboratory specialty and prevailing regulatory requirements. ASQ certification is preferred.

Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.  The minimum salary every 2 weeks is approx $2,519.20, based on a full-time position.
