Position description
Location: Mary Brigh MN (MB_MN_ED), Emergency Department/Trauma Center
Patient Care Type: The Emergency Department is a primary tertiary referral facility. In partnership with various clinical practice groups, the ED is a recognized Level 1 Adult and Pediatric Trauma Center, Comprehensive Stroke Center and VAD Center. ED staff see a diverse population of approximately 75,000 patients per year. ED nursing staff interact with nearly every specialty in the medical center with conditions ranging from minor illnesses to life-threatening diseases and injuries. The ED acute care rooms are universal rooms for any acuity or type of patient. The ED is divided into pods, which are named based on geographic locations in the ED. In addition to the universal room pods, and additional pods, there are additional pods to support Behavioral Health, Pediatrics, and Observation practices. There are adult and pediatric resuscitation suites that can accommodate 7 patients. The garage entrance provides support for decontamination processes for patients exposed to hazardous materials.

- 4 Intake Rooms are available for initial assessment.
- Center, East, West, and Peds pods are universal acute care rooms.
- South Pod is for Behavioral health patients.
- North Pod is for ED Observation Status and is available for patients needing less than 24 hours of observation.

Qualifications
Student or graduate of an accredited baccalaureate, associate, or diploma nursing program, as recognized by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN- formerly NLN) or Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). If graduated from a nursing program that was not accredited by ACEN or CCNE, at least one year of RN experience (within the last 5 years) in an applicable care setting is required. If graduation did not occur within the last two years, one year of RN experience in an applicable care setting is also required.
All associate degree or diploma registered nurses hired into the Department of Nursing with a RN start date after September 1, 2010, must provide documented evidence of program completion of their baccalaureate degree in nursing from an accredited nursing program within 5 years from the last day of the month of their RN start date.

Additional qualifications
To be a strong candidate for employment, New Graduates should have the following: ED employment experience (i.e. PCA, Tech, Scribe), EMS/EMT experience, Military trauma experience, and/or a nursing school clinical capstone/internship/externship experience within an ED setting.
A minimum of 1-year of RN experience within the past 5 years strongly preferred. RN experience in a critical care, progressive care, or ED setting strongly preferred.
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written). Experience working in a team environment. Computer skills required, prior experience with electronic medical record systems preferred. Ability to work flexible hours, which may include days, evenings, nights, holidays, and weekends and on-call. Ability to adapt to unpredictable situations within the work setting. Demonstrated leadership, effective communicator, and excellent critical thinking skills. Internal applicants should submit their three most recent performance appraisals.

License or certification
Current RN license by applicable state requirements. Arizona and Florida - Maintains Basic Life Support (BLS) competency. Midwest - Maintains current Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers from one of the following programs: American Heart Association or American Red Cross. Additional specialty certification/training as required by the work area.

Compensation Detail
Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum pay rate is $34.72 per hour.
