Position description
A Postdoctoral Fellow position in cancer research using the zebrafish model is available in the laboratory of Dr. Shizhen (Jane) Zhu at Mayo Clinic in Rochester MN. Fresh Ph.D. graduates in molecular biology or related biological sciences are welcome to apply for this position.

Dr. Zhu's research is focused on the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying neuroblastoma initiation, maintenance, and metastasis. Qualified candidates should i) have expertise in molecular and cell biology with extensive experience in animal models; ii) be able to work independently as well as in a team; iii) be able to continue to take on new challenges and responsibilities; iv) show mutual respect to the research team as a trainee and as a mentor to research interns.

Preferred skills including protein, DNA and RNA isolation, western blot, PCR, real-time RT-PCR, fluorescence microscopy, immunostaining, cell and bacteria culture, plasmid design and transfection/infection experience, zebrafish maintenance, and scientific and grant writing.

A Research Fellow at Mayo Clinic is a temporary position intended to provide training and education in research. Individuals will train in the research program of a Mayo Clinic principal investigator. Qualified individuals will demonstrate the potential for research as evidenced by their training and peer-reviewed publications and should become competitive for national research grants. Proof of English proficiency is required for J-1 Short-Term Scholars, Research Scholars, Professors, Specialists, and Student Interns sponsored by Mayo Clinic.
