Position description
The laboratory of Dr. Clifford Folmes (https://www.mayo.edu/research/faculty/folmes-clifford-d-ph-d/bio-20037426?_ga=2.260855300.865988008.1605899354-1685306918.1564757892 ) at Mayo Clinic is seeking an outstanding and highly motivated candidate with training in stem cell biology and/or energy metabolism for a postdoctoral research fellow position in the field of Stem Cell Metabolism. The successful candidate will work on NIH and Mayo Clinic funded projects to define how mitochondrial dynamics and metabolic pathways regulate stem cell fate and function. Specifically, the project will employ metabolomics and metabolic flux analysis to examine how environmental conditions impact stem cell metabolism, function and regenerative capacity. The selected individual will have opportunities for scientific career development through strong mentorship, publishing high quality manuscripts and presenting at relevant scientific conferences.

A Research Fellow at Mayo Clinic is a temporary position intended to provide training and education in research. Individuals will train in the research program of a Mayo Clinic principal investigator. Qualified individuals will demonstrate the potential for research as evidenced by their training and peer-reviewed publications and should become competitive for national research grants. Proof of English proficiency is required for J-1 Short-Term Scholars, Research Scholars, Professors, Specialists, and Student Interns sponsored by Mayo Clinic.

  • Proof of doctoral degree (copy of diploma or final transcript with English translation, if applicable) or a letter from your university's Registrar office indicating you have fulfilled all doctoral program requirements and are eligible to graduate.
Please also be prepared that you may be asked to provide three letters of recommendation to the hiring PI prior to an interview.
Qualifications
The applicant must have a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent doctoral degree in a field related to the program, with significant laboratory experience. Eligible applicants should be highly motivated and be able to work in a collaborative environment. The applicant will be expected to be involved in several research projects and contribute to the writing of grant applications and publications.
