Position description
The Enteric NeuroScience Program at Mayo Clinic is seeking an exceptional candidate for a Research Scientist position. Highly productive senior research fellows, research associates or instructors/assistant professors looking for a fully funded position with an opportunity to co-manage 2-3 R01 level grants with the PI are encouraged to apply. We highly prefer a candidate with a PhD in neuroscience, immunology, physiology, or biomedical engineering and a strong interest in working in a team-based multidisciplinary, multi-PI laboratory to understand enteric nervous system and smooth muscle based pathobiology of neurogastrointestinal and motility disorders of the gut. Background in overseeing research technologists, mentoring students and post-doctoral fellows and writing NIH grants is highly preferred. The position will allow integration with a strong group of enteric neuroscientists and physiologists within the program providing a highly collaborative environment for discovery science. Access to state-of-art services and collaborations with Individualized medicine, Regenerative medicine, immunology, imaging and microbiome will allow the right candidate to achieve her/his goals and expand programmatic goals. Candidate must be willing to take lead on writing grant applications and manuscripts along with the PI and other team members. Although this position is not contingent on obtaining funding, it is expected that the candidate demonstrate leadership along with PI towards sustaining funding. The Research Scientist must play a key supporting role in the sponsoring research program. Will significantly contribute to grant writing and serve as co-principal investigator (if necessary) on extramural grant applications submitted by the principal investigator. May apply as the co-investigator or co-principal investigator with other investigators or principal investigator for an extramural grant or contracts if done in collaboration with his/her Mayo sponsor. The Research Scientist is expected to serve as the principal investigator's internal and external representative and resource contact person for the research program and may represent the principal investigator at national or international meetings if necessary. Brings a unique skill, technique or knowledge to the program and will significantly participate in personnel and resource management on behalf of the principal investigator. Will independently manage assigned projects and the projects of other program personnel. Will provide input for the direction and design of other's projects and direct teaching activities within the investigator's program.
A Research Scientist candidate must have a doctoral level degree and a minimum of 6 years of postdoctoral research training at Mayo or elsewhere. Must hold academic rank (i.e. Instructor, Assistant Professor) at Mayo at the time of accepting the Research Scientist position or achieve it immediately thereafter.

Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.  The minimum salary every 2 weeks is approx $3,318.40, based on a full-time position.
