The Microscopy and Cell Analysis Core is seeking a motivated individual to join our Electron Microscopy (EM) team to provide electron microscopy services in support of clinical testing and research projects within the Mayo Clinic enterprise. The EM technologist interacts with all laboratory users in order to accomplish specific research and clinical goals with respect to electron microscopy procedures. Duties include tissue processing, embedding and sectioning. Other responsibilities of the position involve scoping tissues on the electron microscope for ultrastructural indicators of disease and reporting to Mayo pathologists.
The successful candidate sets up and performs routine and established lab procedures in support of lab goals. Monitors results, reports unusual outcomes and suggests modifications. Collects, enters and summarizes data. Assists in the maintenance of lab equipment and supplies. Works under supervision and may perform some assignments independently as discussed and approved by laboratory management.

- Requires bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, or other relevant science.
- Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to work well with a variety of personalities.
- Experience in light and/or electron microscopy is highly desirable.
- Must exhibit a solid understanding of lab techniques, equipment, and safety.
- Must have the ability to organize and carry out laboratory techniques independently and in a team setting.
- Experience with basic data analysis is required.
- This position requires demonstrated writing skills.
Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum pay rate is $23.56 per hour.
Preferred candidate must be able to work an 8-hour shift M-F, 9am-6pm, or as directed by need.
The position may include some non-traditional working hours (evenings and weekends).
