The RN Quality Specialist strives to enhance patient care outcomes through the development of quality management programs. Develops, implements, measures, and monitors quality indicators and identifies opportunities for improvement through the establishment of monitors to identify patterns and trends. Assesses, analyzes, recommends, and facilitates opportunities to improve patient care. Integrates and coordinates efforts to promote efficiency in management and utilization of systems and resources. This individual facilitates quality improvement programs through unit, division, and/or department committee as appropriate. Prepares reports for various levels of committees in the organization, works collaboratively, and facilitates interdepartmental and inter-campus quality improvement programs. Provides leadership through community involvement, committee work, and participation in research (incumbents who work outside of the Quality Management Department only). The National Association for Healthcare Quality Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice, the ANA Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice (2004), the ANA Code of Ethics for Nursing (2001) and the Code of Ethics for Healthcare Quality Professionals provide the basis for practice.
Baccalaureate or Master’s degree in Nursing required. Minimum three years of nursing experience in a related clinical area.
Master’s degree in Nursing preferred. Demonstrated clinical nursing competence, leadership, and management skills, along with quality assessment/improvement techniques and tools. Knowledge of accreditation and licensure standards. Must be highly motivated, flexible, innovative, self-directed, and able to manage time effectively. Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships and accomplish goals. Excellent verbal and written communication skills required. Strong computer skills preferred.
License or certification
Current RN licensure from Arizona.
Certification as Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) preferred.
Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum salary every 2 weeks is approx $3066.40, based on a full-time position.
