The Senior Director will join a strategy team including senior executives from Planning, Finance, Business Development, Marketing, and Operational Owners in the development of long-range of strategic plans and objectives through the identification of strategic issues and opportunities that could influence business growth, transformation, and mission-sustaining profitability. The Senior Director works directly with the business’s leadership, executives, stakeholders, and Planning Services team members to launch and monitor high priority strategic initiatives.
Represents the department to, and participates in institutional committees and task groups, and external groups; coordinates Mayo resource plans (projects, people, facilities, money and equipment) in an effective and efficient manner; develops and fosters strategies and directions that support department and institution goals and objectives.
Master's Degree required; preferably in business or healthcare management. Ten years (10) of significant, relevant management and progressive strategy development experience.
*This is a remote telework position until Covid-19 pandemic telework protocols are resolved. Post pandemic, this position will require onsite support in Rochester, MN based on business needs.

Proven ability to successfully undertake multiple initiatives simultaneously in a complex, matrix organization. Must have a track record of successful strategy management and development, project management, business planning, project execution and bottom line execution. Proven ability to collaborate effectively with physicians, administrators, and staff at all levels of the internal organization and with external organizations is required.
This position requires an individual with vision to identify and capitalize on market opportunities and to accomplish aggressive goals within a comprehensive strategy. Must have the ability to inspire trust and confidence and communicate effectively; must be able to network and build relationships to lead the creation of compelling proposals. Excellent planning, analytical, organizational, management, oral and written communications skills are required. Demonstrated ability to lead a growing and dynamic team through ongoing change is required. Requires skill in effective decision making and effective consensus management. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Broad knowledge and understanding of current organization and healthcare directions and challenges. Broad experience with committee and personnel management, resource allocation, coaching and mentoring. Candidates will have an established network of professional colleagues (within Mayo Clinic and ideally within the national community) and a professional reputation that generates respect among their peers. Minimal travel may be required.
Significant Mayo experience with sound understanding of Mayo Clinic business and strategic imperatives. Preferably, candidates will have significant experience within Mayo Clinic to include an in-depth knowledge of the Mayo practice and administrative infrastructure capabilities and how to appropriately access Mayo Clinic resources to support new strategy development. The incumbent must be able to create shared ownership for the long term vision of the organization and strategy discipline. Also must be able to work effectively in a consensus-style operation that expects and promotes teamwork, creativity, innovation and independent problem-solving. Must be comfortable with ambiguity. Must possess the ability to inspire trust and confidence, and communicate effectively with internal and external audiences including physician and business leaders. The ability to work independently, work with multiple projects and maintain a high degree of professionalism and confidentiality is essential.
Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum salary every 2 weeks is approximately $6356.80, based on a full-time position.
