Position description
Responsible for the management of the division's allied health staff. This involves responsibility for planning, organizing, implementing, and directing all activities in accordance with the direction of the Division Leadership and consistent with research regulatory requirements and budgetary constraints/requirements. Requires good decision-making and judgment capability and good attention to detail and follow-through on assignments with multiple priorities. Serves as a key member of the management team with a primary focus on planning and implementation of guidelines and systems. Regulates staffing in accordance with fluctuating workload. Exceptionally skilled at dealing with people at all levels of the organization. Acts as a facilitator and generator of new ideas and a mediator on difficult issues. Monitors the budgets and allocated personnel to allow the coordination of resources within the Division. Excellent mentor to employees and provides excellent and regular feedback to employees. Implements policies that comply with regulatory and accreditation standards, and are consistent with other Mayo policies. Understand the research federal guidelines and regulatory practices to ensure compliance within the work unit. Ensures the annual competency assessment of study personnel regarding research practices.
Bachelors degree in management, business administration, health care administration or nursing with minimum of five years broad based management experience.

Working knowledge of clinical research, data management and record-keeping and previous experience working with research budgets is preferred. Experience of process change, continuous improvement, quality tools and project management is preferred. Must have a good understanding of local, state and federal laws that impact research operations. Strong human relations and communication skills are essential. Must be extremely flexible and work effectively with allied health staff, Mayo consulting staff, and healthcare professionals external to Mayo. Computer literacy (e.g., Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word) is required.
