Surgical Techs are responsible for the preparation of the operating room and care of the patients during surgical procedures. The ST is responsible for coordinating the activities in the OR and work closely with nursing, anesthesia, radiology, sterile processing, and multiple other departments throughout the hospital.
Assists the surgeon during operative procedures by providing appropriate and adequate sterile instrumentation and other supplies. Maintains the surgical field through aseptic practices. Ensures the operating suite is adequately prepared for the procedure. Works under the supervision of the Registered Nurse as a member of the peri-operative team. Monitors the PAR level of surgical instruments and supplies. Actively participates in departmental staff meetings and performance improvement initiatives.
Surgical Technician program graduate or student graduating from a Surgical Tech program.
AST membership, preferred. Surgical Technologist Certification, preferred.
Ability to read and communicate effectively in English. Willingness to accept new ideas and work under stressful conditions. Basic computer knowledge.
License or certification
Current BLS Certification.
Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum pay rate is $21.95 per hour.
Hours / Pay period
64 hours every two week pay period.
8 hour rotating shifts, days/evening/nights, with on call rotation during the week.
This position has a scheduled weekend and holiday rotation with on call rotation during the week and weekends.
