In the hospital environment, you work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary health care team including physicians, nurses, other pharmacists and pharmacy technicians.

Your responsibilities include drug distribution, drug therapy monitoring, investigational drug accountability, education and supervisory functions.

You can also support our very large outpatient practice in a variety of roles including primary practice, hospital dismissal, a communication center and a high-tech automated processing center. Whatever you choose, you’ll find opportunities throughout our locations, including hospitals in Rochester, Minnesota; Phoenix, Arizona; and Jacksonville, Florida, as well as the Mayo Clinic Health System locations in Minnesota, Iowa, and Wisconsin.

Specialized staff members and support personnel (see details below) assist you in meeting patient needs. Mayo pharmacists are also supported by the latest technologies, computerized systems, and opportunities for continuing education, in-service classes, financial assistance and tuition reimbursement.

Pharmacy Technicians at Mayo Clinic provide drug therapy technical support in the outpatient, community and hospital dismissal pharmacies. Techs enter data, submit insurance claims and select products related to prescriptions. They present prescriptions to the pharmacist for verification, act as a liaison between patients and insurance companies, and provide excellent service to patients. Tasks are administered under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. Techs are required to have a high school diploma, previous outpatient/retail pharmacy experience, be team-oriented and have strong skills in communication, problem solving and organization.

The Pharmacy Service Assistant provides patient care while performing his/her duties under the supervision of a lead pharmacy technician, technician supervisor, or other supervisor at appropriate pharmacy locations. The Pharmacy Service Assistant provides clerical support in the pharmacy workflow, while working with patients, pharmacy staff, and nursing staff.

Working as a Pharmacy Service Assistant is a great place to start for those interested in becoming a pharmacy technician in the pharmaceutical industry. Assistants are required to have a high school diploma (or GED), previous customer service/patient experience, and be attentive to detail.

Mayo Clinic Radiology is a multi-specialty department where an individual can expand their medical imaging skills and deliver top quality patient care experiences.  These Mayo Clinic imaging roles are professionally challenging and highly rewarding.  Each modality description is highlighted below.

Mayo Clinic features one of the most technologically advanced imaging environments, as well as one of the most capable teams of physicians, nurses, technologists and support staff in the country. The Breast Imaging Department provides comprehensive breast health services, which includes tomosynthesis, contrast enhanced digital mammography, stereo tactic biopsy and breast sonography. Mayo Clinic also offers additional breast exams such as Molecular Breast Imaging and MRI of the Breast. The Breast Imaging technologists at the Mayo Clinic Breast Imaging Department perform various mammographic and ultrasound exams and procedures used in diagnosis and treatment of breast disease, requiring independent and professional judgment, according to established standards and practices.

CT Technologists work with radiologists and other health care professionals to provide high quality CT images for diagnosis and treatment. As a member of the CT Technologist team, you will be present in both an inpatient and outpatient setting, which between all areas performs ~ 500 exams on patients each day. As a Mayo Clinic CT Technologist, your hours entail rotating shifts, that include day, evening, overnight, weekend and holidays. Interventional Radiology is a surgical/procedural based practice where you are assisting the physicians in performing minimally invasive exams and imaging all organs and systems of the body.   Your team consists of dynamic highly skilled professionals delivering a safe patient focused experience.

Mayo Clinic has one of the largest and most advanced MRI installations in the world, with field strengths ranging from 1.5T to 7.0T. Mayo Clinic MRI technologists perform outpatient and inpatient diagnostic examinations and interventional procedures for patients with complex neurological, musculoskeletal, oncologic and cardiovascular diseases. Mayo Clinic MRI technologists work collaboratively with radiologists, physicists and scientists every day to advance MRI imaging science enhancing the lives of those we serve.

Nuclear medicine is a medical specialty that uses radioactive materials, called radiopharmaceuticals, for diagnosis, management, and treatment of disease, as well as medical research. Nuclear medicine technologists apply the art and skill of diagnostic imaging and therapeutics through the safe and effective use of radionuclides. Diagnostic nuclear medicine images allow medical professionals to study the structure and measure the function of the organ as well as identify tumors, areas of infection, or other disorders. Nuclear medicine technologists work directly with patients and often collaborate with radiologists, physicists, radiopharmacists, and/or radiochemists.

The General X-ray department at Mayo Clinic provide high quality, low dose radiolograph’s . The General radiology department assists other departments in flouro guided procedure in the ER, OR, and GI lab. The General Department works in both the hospital and clinic settings.

The Mayo Clinic Radiology Ultrasound practice provides diagnostic and interventional procedures in state of the art facilities using cutting-edge equipment and innovative techniques to provide highest-quality imaging in a caring, professional and compassionate manner. All of our sonographers are credentialed by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) in abdominal, OB/GYN and vascular ultrasound. Sonographers and radiologists work in a collaborative environment that encourages collegial decision making for accurate and thorough diagnoses.

The Quality control department provides support in all areas of radiology. They trouble shoot artifacts in all modalities as well as monitor equipment performance, and dose output. They assist in equipment registration with the ACR, Joint Commission, and State inspections. Quality control does yearly testing on all radiology equipment and provides input for new equipment selection.
