Nurse Residency and Training Programs
The Nurse Residency Program (NRP) is for all nurses with less than 12 months of experience, to be completed within the first year. NRP provides a framework for a successful transition to a professional nurse by promoting educational and personal advancement. The curriculum consists of online learning modules, activities, interactive discussion boards, and live seminars that connect with local and system-wide content experts.
Nurse Residency placement into high-acuity settings (ICU, etc.) requires additional experience and/or education. Speak with the site placement coordinator to learn more.

Mayo Clinic Nurse Residency Program Comparison
The Arizona Nurse Residency Program
June 1st-2nd, 2026, closing at 5 P.M. MST, will be the application submission deadline for the October 2026 Cohort. A complete resume is required and should include all clinical information, professional work or volunteer experience, and current BLS certification.

Mayo Clinic Arizona Nurse Residency Program is accredited as a Practice Transition Program by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation in Practice Transition Programs. The current sites included in this accreditation designation are Mayo Clinic Phoenix and Mayo Clinic Scottsdale. The current practice settings included in this accreditation designation are Medical-Surgical, Step Down, Critical Care, OR, PACU, ED, and Ambulatory.
The Rochester, Minnesota Nurse Residency Program
New graduate RNs are automatically enrolled in the Nurse Residency Program upon accepting a nursing position. Applications will be accepted during scheduled hiring windows throughout the year. Upcoming application periods include:
- June 1 – June 15, 2026
- July 6 – July 20, 2026
- Starting August 2026 applications will be open the 1 - 8 of each month

The Mayo Clinic Health System has a comprehensive Nurse Residency Program which encompasses transition support for the first-year nurse. Participants have the opportunity to connect virtually with other Nurse Residents within Mayo Clinic creating a vast network to learn and support each other. The program reviews common first-year experiences including:

The Florida Critical Care Nurse Residency Program
The Critical Care Nurse Residency Program is an intensive multi-modality program led by our Nursing Education Specialists. Nurse Residents get experience working in two areas of critical care - Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) and Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) including:
- Classroom education
- Simulation labs
- Online and virtual training
- On-the job clinical training
- Monthly lectures and case studies
- Mentorship
The program length is approximately 20 weeks, which includes an expectation of working 36-40 hours per week during orientation. Resident new hires will have the opportunity to be brought on as a full time .90 FTE RN Staff (72 hours every two weeks), upon successful completion of residency. Unit placement will be determined upon completion. The residency is paid at a competitive RN rate and is benefits eligible.

Arizona Perioperative Nursing Program
The Perioperative Nursing Program at Mayo Clinic Phoenix is designed to provide you with the knowledge and skills necessary for a nursing career in the operating room. This program offers the high-quality didactic and clinical experiences needed to help nurses without OR experience become a well-rounded, fully competent perioperative registered nurse.
Mayo Clinic accepts a limited number of experienced RNs twice a year into the Perioperative Nursing Program on a competitive basis. This ensures you'll receive a comprehensive educational experience with close one-on-one instruction.

Florida Perioperative Nursing Program
The Perioperative Nursing Program at Mayo Clinic in Florida prepares registered nurses for a dynamic and rewarding career in the operating room. This comprehensive program is designed to build the knowledge, clinical judgment, and technical skills essential for success in perioperative nursing, including hands-on training in circulating responsibilities and foundational scrub skills.
Participants benefit from a blend of structured classroom education and hands-on clinical experience, ensuring a well-rounded foundation in surgical patient care. Through guided learning and direct mentorship, nurses develop the confidence and competence needed to support safe, high-quality outcomes in the OR.
Mayo Clinic accepts a limited number of applicants into this competitive program, including both new graduate RNs and experienced RNs who are new to the operating room setting. Small cohort sizes allow for personalized instruction and meaningful one-on-one support from experienced perioperative professionals.

Florida Sterile Processing Training Program
The Sterile Processing (SPD) 101 Program at Mayo Clinic is designed to equip participants with the foundational knowledge and hands-on skills required to succeed in the field of sterile processing within our Sterile Processing department. Through a combination of comprehensive classroom instruction, clinical experience and a capstone presentation, this program prepares individuals to become confident, well-rounded, and highly proficient technicians.
The Sterile Processing team plays a vital role in patient care by ensuring all reusable surgical and clinical instruments are properly cleaned, disinfected, and sterilized. Their work directly supports safe patient outcomes and high-quality care across the organization.
This program is ideal for individuals who are new to the field and do not have prior sterilization experience, offering a structured pathway into this essential healthcare role and preparing new technicians to successfully obtain the required CRCST certification.
