Responsibilities
We are seeking qualified internal candidates for an opportunity to join the expanding Pharmacist Specialist Team at Mayo Clinic in Florida. This position will be in the Critical Care Hospital Pharmacy Practice. In addition to providing an expert level of guidance on medication use in Critical Care Patients, Critical Care Pharmacist Specialists serve as Preceptors in Learning Experiences for our Pharmacy Residency and Student Education Programs, as well lead quality improvement projects in the Critical Care Pharmacy Practice. Scheduling will preferentially be in the Critical Care Units, with periodic rotation into other areas of practice, including the Mayo 1 Institutional Pharmacy.
Effectively performs the activities and duties of the Pharmacist positions with responsibilities including distribution, consultation, education, research and supervisory functions. Provides an expert level of guidance on medication use in the specialty area of practice. Serves as preceptor for Pharmacy Education program(s). Leads quality improvement projects in the specialty area of practice.
Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited College of Pharmacy (Pharm.D. or B.S.) and completion of one of the following: an accredited PGY 1 pharmacy residency and an accredited PGY2 pharmacy residency in area of specialty OR an accredited PGY1 pharmacy residency and at least two years of relevant pharmacy practice experience in specialty area OR at least 2 years of relevant pharmacy practice experience and at least 2 years of relevant pharmacy practice experience in specialty area. Experience and interest in teaching. Strong commitment to excellence. Project management and coordination skills. Computer skills including word processing, spreadsheet and data base applications. Ability to communicate effectively, work collaboratively with others, and work independently with minimal supervision. The following are preferred: Proven history of establishing and maintaining a progressive clinical pharmacy practice in area of specialty. Experience in pharmacotherapy and/or pharmacy practice research, participation in scholarly activities including publication and scientific meeting presentations, and clinical teaching experience. Demonstration of leadership and team building skills. Computer skills including word processing, spreadsheet, presentation and database applications. Current, active Board Certification through the Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS) in area of specialty or certification, preferably in Critical Care (BCCCP.) (EXCEPTION: Candidates with PGY2 training in area of specialty required to obtain board certification within 12 months of hire). Eligible for licensure by the Florida Board of Pharmacy. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 3 months of hire. Academic Appointment within 18 months of hire.
