ResponsibilitiesThis highly responsible position takes a lead role in coordinating quality activities within Mayo Clinic Ambulance through the application of quality assurance (QA) and Quality Improvement (QI) methodologies. Responsibilities include coordinating and maintaining Mobile Integrated Health program quality assurance processes supporting the reportable patient events program, assuring mandatory reporting requirements associated with the maltreatment of a vulnerable adult or child are completed, conducting periodic and ongoing reviews of the Mobile Integrated Health clinical practice that lead to improvement efforts, producing educational and informational content for patient care providers, coordinating QA activities, participating and leading QI project and collaborating with internal and external partners to ensure alignment and consistency in processes and systems.
The Quality Coordinator contributes to the effective, safe, customer-focused, care delivery of emergency and non-emergency medical services by completing and reporting on the duties associated with the roles and responsibilities of this position. Triages identified and reported incidents for further review and presents findings to departmental and institutional committees as requested. Supports and documents the root cause analysis of patient safety incidents following Fair and Just Culture processes.
Provides professional literature references, associated regulatory implications and occurrence data relative to assigned incidents. Prepares and submits required National, State and Enterprise quality measures and Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services required data, assists Leadership team in all accreditation efforts, along with accreditation data submission. Supports and participates in carrying out EMS, population and mobile integrate health research activities as needed. Provides system support to all staff in the areas of practice analysis and performance improvement. Provides facilitation, data collection and reporting of quality activities. Daily assignments are carried out in accordance with established policies and procedures of Mayo Clinic Ambulance. The Quality Coordinator works with considerable independence in the conduct of specific job functions and in ongoing problem solving as is required and necessary. Responds immediately to high-priority operational inquiries from internal and external customers via cellular phone or other means.
QualificationsFive or more years' experience as a Paramedic, Emergency Medical Technician, or Registered Nurse with two or more years of transport experience preferred. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with course work in business, management, emergency services, nursing, health administration, or related field, is preferred, with a minimum of an associate degree.
Management, supervisory, research or quality assurance experience is preferred. Process management and/or training experience preferred. Ability to utilize computers and other forms of information systems. Clinical and/or safety (employee or patient) experience in a multi-disciplinary setting preferred. Knowledge of and experience with Federal, State and Local regulations and requirements surrounding EMS and mobile integrated health is strongly preferred. Ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal relations with a variety of people; collaboration skills; working knowledge of the electronic medical record system and various software applications; demonstrated organizational skills; attention to detail and follow-through; demonstrated report writing ability; experience with root cause analysis methodology.
Licensure/Certification Required: Current Florida Emergency Medical Technician, Florida Paramedic or Florida Registered Nurse. Valid, unrestricted driver’s license.
