Responsibilities

Assesses, treats and documents care of outpatients referred for speech-language pathology services in compliance with organizational, departmental, legal, regulatory and professional requirements. Organizes and conducts speech therapy programs to restore function, maximize independence, and prevent or correct disability following disease, injury, or illness.

  • Perform comprehensive evaluations of patients with voice, upper airway, swallowing, and communication disorders.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans using evidence-based practices, with an emphasis on voice rehabilitation and laryngology.
  • Provide therapeutic interventions for patients with conditions including dysphonia, vocal fold pathology, chronic cough, paradoxical vocal fold motion/inducible laryngeal obstruction, and other laryngeal disorders.
  • Collaborate closely with laryngologists, otolaryngologists, and multidisciplinary care teams to coordinate comprehensive patient care.
  • Educate patients and caregivers on diagnosis, treatment strategies, vocal health, and home exercise programs.
  • Accurately document evaluations, treatment plans, progress, and outcomes in accordance with regulatory and organizational requirements.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the continued growth and excellence of the Voice & Laryngology program.
  • Maintain current knowledge of best practices and emerging evidence in voice and laryngology.


Qualifications

Master of Science, Arts, or Education degree in Speech-Language Pathology from ASHA accredited institution.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience evaluating and treating voice disorders.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and clinical reasoning skills
  • Fellowship or advanced clinical experience in voice, upper airway, or swallowing disorders.
  • Experience with videostroboscopy and FEES.
  • Knowledge of acoustic and aerodynamic voice assessment tools.
  • Participation in research or clinical education.

License/Certifications:

  • Must be eligible for license in the state of Florida in Speech-Language Pathology. 
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association or participating in an ASHA Clinical Fellowship Year supervised by a Mayo Clinic speech-language pathologist certified by ASHA Licensed by the State of Florida Department of Health in Speech-Language Pathology.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certification is required within 90 days of employment.
