Responsibilities
This position is only for Radiation Safety other Safety areas noted in the main description are valuable if you are familiar in these areas but will not be a part of the everyday work environment:
Key responsibilities will include but not limited to:
- Supporting on site Health Physicists, radiation workers and Enterprise Radiation Safety
- Instrument calibration
- Utilizing a survey meter to detect Radioactive material
- Dosimetry program
- Quarterly leak tests/wipes to include analyzing with a liquid scintillation counter
- Decontamination when needed
- Audits of all departments using Radiation, non-ionizing Radiation, and/or Radioactive Materials
- Radioactive waste management
Please note: while this is not a direct patient care position, within a medical setting there will be times that you will exposed to sensitive patient care environment which may include their hospital rooms, procedural rooms, emergency department and even surgical suites.
Supports Safety programs such as radiation safety, chemical safety, occupational safety, industrial hygiene, respiratory protection, and special projects. Assists in performing hazard assessments and audits, making measurements, conducting training, writing policies and procedures, and ordering and maintaining adequate supplies for work unit specific activities. Documents and communicates observations to work unit staff concerning methods to improve safe work initiatives and reduce health and safety hazards. Maintains databases as directed. Works with interdepartmental teams to increase Safety practices. Must maintain strict confidentiality of information.

Qualifications
Associate degree in a technical field directly related to the position and a minimum of one year progressive experience or high school diploma with a minimum of three years progressive experience. Experience should include leadership, team building, and problem-solving skills as well as a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with multiple disciplines (i.e., physician, administrative, supervisory, and allied health staff). Must have strong communication (both verbal and written), organizational, public speaking and human relation skills. Ability to be flexible and adaptable to changing work schedules and environment. Must have knowledge of PC and ability to use routine computer software packages (word processing, spreadsheets, and databases).Knowledge of respiratory protection, hazard assessments, radiation safety, chemical safety, occupational safety, industrial hygiene, OSHA Recordkeeping, as appropriate to position. Basic Workplace Safety certificate or Health Physics Technician certificate within one year of hire.
For positions involving radioactive materials transport (Yellow III), CDL with Hazardous Materials Endorsement within one year of hire. Mayo Quality Fellows Program Bronze certificate within one year of hire.

$27.24 - $40.62/hour; Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.
