We are seeking a creative Communications Specialist with expertise in modern visual design. This role focuses on crafting compelling, visually driven stories that engage and inspire audiences. The ideal candidate blends strong design sensibilities with advanced digital tools—including AI-driven platforms—to create innovative and impactful visual communications.

The department is responsible to build, grow and protect Mayo Clinic’s reputation in a way that shapes the external environment and nurtures the culture to help achieve the mission of the organization. Department functions consist of reputation management including thought leadership and issues/crisis response; client communications and engagement programs; staff engagement; content and channels; government and community engagement; strategy and insights; communications services.

The specialist understands Mayo Clinic business objectives and priorities and participates in creating and implementing plans to meet those objectives. The specialist supports client needs and partners with other department team members to drive and measure outcomes. Must develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to advance the organization's mission.

Requires a bachelor's degree in a related field plus 1 year of relevant work experience. Related internships will be considered. Strong written and oral communication skills. Ability to communicate in a way that creates clarity, simplifies messages, and aligns with organizational strategy. Knowledge of channels for communication and the ability to build effective communication and engagement strategies.

Preferred Qualifications: 

•    Proven experience in visual design, communications, or related field, with a strong portfolio showcasing innovative work.
•    Proficiency in design software (Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, or similar) and familiarity with AI-powered creative tools.
•    Demonstrated ability to create compelling visual storytelling across digital, print and social platforms.
•    Experience developing infographics, motion graphics and multimedia presentations that simplify complex information.
•    Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to align creative assets to brand and strategic goals.
•    Awareness of emerging design trends and technologies, with the ability to apply them effectively to enhance storytelling.
