Responsibilities
The Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Mayo Clinic in Rochester is seeking Board Certified or Board Eligible Gastroenterologists interested in pursuing exemplary clinical care, research, and/or education in a leading academic multi-specialty practice. The division has a long history of innovation in clinical practice, research, education, and procedural arenas that have positively impacted many patients’ lives and led to ground-breaking discoveries. We also have a focus on career development of our faculty leading to development of world leaders in Gastroenterology and Hepatology. The group consists of nearly 90 clinicians, physician-educators, and academicians with support from excellent nurses and Advanced Practice Providers. Investigators are supported by a multidisciplinary and robust clinical, translational, and basic research infrastructure. Physician and physician-scientists with a background of excellence and innovation in research, clinical care and/or education (including education research) are encouraged to apply. In addition, candidates with an academic focus on conducting epidemiological studies, clinical trials, artificial intelligence (AI), or working with large datasets would be highly competitive. The division works in an environment that supports innovation and has a wealth of resources available, enabling us to give our patients the time and quality of care they deserve.
We currently have open positions across most fields of GI, including in particular esophageal diseases and advanced endoscopy.
We offer:
- Dedicated clinical practices focused on disease groups with full-time administrative and nursing support
- Several fully staffed inpatient services minimizing additional need for weekend / night call. Two dedicated primary gastroenterology and hepatology inpatient services with support from residents and fellows to take care of inpatients with GI / Hepatology conditions and a dedicated in-patient liver transplant service.
- Two dedicated consult services supported by fellows and residents to provide GI / Hepatology care to inpatients not on our primary services.
- Separate dedicated emergency endoscopy and emergency ERCP service lines staffed by a subset of the staff.
- Unwavering support and mentorship to obtain intramural and extramural funding.
- State-of-the-art Endoscopy Units and access to cutting-edge advanced and interventional endoscopy procedures.
- Access to Developmental Endoscopy Unit for research in endoscopic innovation and device development.
- A clinical trials unit within the division to promote phase I – III clinical trials.
- A dedicated Artificial intelligence and Innovation unit to promote AI research.
- Dedicated upper and lower gastrointestinal motility tests and an in-house pelvic floor rehabilitation program.
- Academic tertiary and quaternary care integrated with specialists from all sub-specialty GI areas, Advanced Endoscopy, General and subspecialty Surgery, Oncology, Radiology, Pathology, and other disciplines.

Qualifications
