Responsibilities

MCL Operations is highly regarded as the benchmark for excellence within the reference laboratory industry. MCL goes to market as a differentiated provider and leans heavily on the efficacy of those areas within the control of MCL Operations. MCL Operations serves as the functional link that enables MCL strategy execution in highly competitive markets. The MCL business is constantly growing and evolving to meet the changing face of medicine; new markets, technologies, and clinical requirements require unique solutions and new services. MCL Operations requires the ability to respond in an agile and flexible fashion to these developments, combining experience with creative problem solving to position MCL to functionally deliver on business opportunities. 

The Operations Solutions Coordinator-MCL reports to the Senior Manager-Operations-MCL and collaborates across the different MCL Operations pillars to lead the initial investigation, solutioning, and implementation of new service lines. Due to the individual needs of each business unit, the Operations Solutions Coordinator-MCL may have the opportunity to manage direct reports. Domestic and international travel required. A valid driver’s license and good driving record may be required based on business needs and travel expectations.

Additional Responsibilities:

1. Develops and governs client-contact architecture, including service-routing methodologies and navigation models that support consistent and effective client access.

2. Develops and governs operational decision-support structures, including decision trees and reason-code frameworks that support consistent classification and management of client inquiries.

3. Establishes closed-loop inquiry management frameworks that define ownership, handoffs, resolution, and closure across the inquiry lifecycle.

4. Develops and governs standardized client-communication solutions, including reusable messaging, templates, and automated communication for common client scenarios.

5. Establishes standardized pathways for inquiries requiring laboratory or other subject-matter expertise, including defined consultation criteria, content ownership, and engagement processes.

*Individuals hired to this position are required to complete 2 years in this position before becoming eligible to transfer to other positions within Mayo Clinic.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in human-based biology, chemistry, Medical Laboratory Science, biochemistry, biomedical engineering, or related scientific fields and seven years of clinical laboratory and/or patient care experience is required. Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution with a combination of directly-related experience and education may be considered. A valid driver’s license and good driving record may be required based on business needs and travel expectations.

Additional Qualifications:

Masters degree (e.g. Masters of Health or Masters of Business Administration) preferred. Experience must include demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with internal (physician, scientist, administrative, supervisory, and allied health staff) and external vendor and client stakeholders. Must possess strong prioritization and workload management skills with the ability to undertake several projects or tasks simultaneously. Must have ability and confidence to effectively function independently and utilize strong judgment in decision making. Must be accountable, adaptable, flexible, creative, dependable, responsible, and able to perform well within a multi-functional environment. Experience developing and leading implementation of new product lines and services both internally and in partnership with external clients and partners is preferred. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to present information to a wide array of audiences both internal and external. Must have a high level of technical competence and confidence to assess impact on patient care and business plans. Domestic and international travel required. A valid driver’s license and good driving record may be required based on business needs and travel expectations.
