Responsibilities
The Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN is seeking a fellowship trained Lower Extremity Adult Reconstruction surgeon to join our Joint replacement practice. This position includes responsibilities in Rochester, MN and the surgeon would operate throughout the Mayo Clinic campus in Rochester. The current highly skilled renowned adult reconstruction colleagues provide advanced care in joint preservation and primary hip and knee arthroplasty with an established reputation of treating complex hip and knee problems and periprosthetic fractures. The practice is supported by non-operative orthopedic surgery colleagues that provide state-of-the art care, including regenerative medicine interventions, and have expertise in the areas of musculoskeletal ultrasound. The Division also supports three ACGME-accredited fellows each year in lower extremity joint reconstruction. The fellowship is highly competitive matching the top ranked applicants each year.
A strong commitment to integrated clinical research and orthopedic education is expected. The position is 1.0 FTE clinical/surgical into which the candidate is expected to build a clinical research and education footprint. Opportunities for teaching are present on a daily basis with both fellows and residents in a 1:1 mentorship model. Protected time for research and education can be earned as the clinical practice matures, while the primary focus is establishing a differentiated, destination surgical practice.
This successful applicant will work primarily at Mayo Clinic’s Orthopedic Department in Rochester, MN. The orthopedic department is located on Gonda 14 with other specialists in orthopedic surgery, physical medicine and rehabilitation, musculoskeletal radiology and a number of divisions within the orthopedic surgery department.
Qualifications
- Must be board-certified/board-eligible in Orthopedic Surgery with fellowship training in Adult Reconstruction – Lower Extremity.
- Eligible for medical licensure in the State of Minnesota.
- Candidates should also have outstanding clinical and teaching skills, and experience in basic, clinical or translational research.

Compensation Detail
The minimum starting salary range for surgical specialties may range from $279,000 to $814,000. This range reflects full-time total base compensation prior to consideration of additional experience or duties. Pay for the selected candidate may vary based on specialty, experience, FTE, internal equity, or external market data.
