Responsibilities
The Senior Operations Analyst plays a critical role in leading and developing a team focused on credit balance optimization within the Enterprise Revenue Cycle. This position also manages large-scale projects, coordinates cross-functional resources, drives system optimization, and process improvement initiatives across Mayo Clinic’s group practices and Mayo Health System. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of advanced technical skills, strong soft skills, and strategic thinking.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor a team dedicated to credit balance resolution, fostering skill development and operational excellence.
- Plan and manage large projects, coordinating resources to implement new systems, programs, and processes.
- Identify opportunities for system optimization to enhance efficiency, reduce redundancy, and improve user experience across revenue cycle platforms.
- Provide detailed project documentation, including design specs, project plans, and process flows for leadership review.
- Guide and support project, process, implementation, and training teams; make key design and process decisions.
- Conduct and facilitate complex business analysis for enterprise-wide process improvement and system performance enhancement initiatives.
- Utilize extensive experience with Microsoft products—especially Excel—to analyze data, identify trends, and develop actionable solutions.
- Build and maintain dashboards to monitor performance, support decision-making, and communicate insights to leadership.
- Collaborate with Systems and IT to design and implement new business processes and system applications.
- Lead effective meetings, workgroups, and committees across Mayo Clinic.
- Facilitate negotiations and resolve issues collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Mentor and develop staff, maintaining knowledge of the current healthcare environment.
- Present at local, state, and national conferences and user group meetings as needed.
- Ensure a strong control environment to uphold Mayo’s Standard of Ethics and minimize financial and legal risks.
- May require evening/weekend hours and travel.
Qualifications
Bachelors with 10 years of relevant experience.
Relevant experience is considered in Finance Revenue Cycle, or Healthcare.
Master's preferred.
Previous healthcare experience preferred.
Advanced technical skills, advanced Microsoft skills, soft skills, previous experience with system optimization, and training experience preferred.
- Knowledge and experience in Project Management is required.
- Extensive knowledge of physician and hospital billing systems for governmental, managed care, and commercial payers is preferred.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office tools; experience with data visualization and dashboard tools is required.
- Demonstrated ability to identify trends, implement solutions, and manage large-scale projects.
- Proven experience in optimizing enterprise systems and leveraging technology to streamline operations.
- Customer-service oriented, timely in responses to requests for service/information.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities, work independently, and demonstrate leadership skills.
- Requires knowledge of revenue cycle systems.
- Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) Certification preferred.
