Responsibilities

At Mayo Clinic, data is more than an asset; it supports clinical care, research, and operational effectiveness across the enterprise. We are seeking an IT Architect – Data & Analytics to join the Office of the CTO to contribute to the architecture and advancement of data and analytics solutions within the organization. In this role, you will support the development of enterprise architecture that enables reliable, secure, and well-integrated data capabilities. Your work will help ensure that systems are aligned with enterprise standards and able to support a variety of analytics, reporting, and data-driven use cases across Mayo Clinic.
The IT Architect applies enterprise architecture concepts at a solution and domain level, working closely with senior architects, engineers, and stakeholders to translate requirements into effective architectural designs. You will contribute to architecture reviews, develop design artifacts, and evaluate technology options to support sound technical decisions. This role participates in technical planning and helps promote consistency, integration, and reuse across systems, while building depth in architectural practices and contributing to the evolution of Mayo Clinic’s data and analytics ecosystem.

Experience with cloud security principles and platforms, including securing SaaS, IaaS, and zero trust environments.
Familiarity with Zscaler (ZIA/ZPA) and cloud-delivered security controls.
Experience working with Azure DevOps for pipeline management, automation, and integration of security practices into development workflows (DevSecOps).
Proficiency with data visualization and reporting tools such as Power BI to support security metrics, risk reporting, and decision-making.
Exposure to AI and emerging technologies, including leveraging AI-driven tools to enhance security analysis, automation, and operational efficiency.
Experience developing business requirements and participating in testing and validation of system changes to ensure alignment with security, business, and operational needs.
Ability to operate effectively in a hybrid work environment, including participation in on-site work-related events, team collaboration sessions, and key organizational activities as required.

This is a full time remote position within the United States.  Mayo Clinic will not sponsor or transfer visas for this position including F1 OPT STEM.



Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and 5 years' experience including 3 years' of demonstrated technical experience and 1 year of demonstrated leadership experience; Or, Associate's degree and 9 years' experience including 3 years' of demonstrated technical experience and 1 year of demonstrated leadership experience.Demonstrated expertise in one or more of the following: business modeling, data design, information systems design, systems integration, and service design. Demonstrated oral and written communication, organization, problem solving, facilitation, and meeting management skills. Demonstrated expertise in one or more computing technologies. Demonstrated project and deliverable consistency through repeatable and reliable performance. Demonstrates initiative and self-motivation to complete tasks and assignments on time. Experience working in healthcare technology. Must be able to work independently and able to lead and mentor in a team environment. Masters degree in applicable field preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

Demonstrated experience in one or more of the following areas: data design, information systems design, systems integration, service design, or application architecture. Foundational understanding of architectural principles, system integration approaches, and modern data and analytics technologies. 

Demonstrated ability to contribute to the design of data and analytics architectures across hybrid cloud and on-premises environments, supporting structured and unstructured data platforms. Functional understanding of modern cloud data ecosystems, including data lakes, lakehouses, streaming platforms, data fabrics, and analytics technologies. Experience supporting the development of architecture artifacts, requirements, and solution approaches, with exposure to areas such as integration patterns, data governance, metadata, data quality, security, and analytics tooling. Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate with technical teams and stakeholders to support design decisions.
