Responsibilities

Primary Care SEMN is seeking a general internist or family medicine physician to provide clinical/outpatient services for high-risk older adults in subacute and long-term skilled nursing facilities. A split Family Medicine clinic assignment or an ideal candidate desiring less than a full-time position may be considered.  The physician will join a primary care team consisting of physicians and advanced practice providers who specialize in this care.  

The position is located in the primary care clinics on our Austin and Albert Lea Campuses.  Care is provided in skilled nursing facilities in and around the Austin and Albert Lea communities. The physician will work collaboratively with advanced practice providers to provide holistic care including acute, chronic, preventive, and palliative care services. The provision of care includes but is not limited to comprehensive evaluation, ordering, and interpreting diagnostic tests, prescription of pharmacologic agents and treatments and non-pharmacologic therapies, and counseling patients including advanced care planning. Ideal candidates have experience in Primary care and Geriatrics. Travel will be required throughout the Southeast Minnesota region. The physician working in the facilities may have the opportunity to be the medical director of the facility as well.      

 This opportunity also includes: 

  • Access to collaborative consults from health system specialty physicians, in addition to onsite pharmacy and social work 
  • Good balance of subacute and long-term care patients, with medical directorship opportunities available 
  • Opportunity for a blended practice of primary outpatient internal medicine or family medicine, and senior services care delivery  
  • Mentorship and coaching support are available 
  • Opportunity for education and research 


Qualifications

Board Eligible or Board Certified (BE/BC) in Family Practice, Internal Medicine, or Geriatric Fellowship is highly desirable
Must have or be able to obtain a Minnesota Medical License
Must have M.D., D.O., or equivalent degree

Compensation Detail

The minimum starting salary for Primary Care specialties may range from $205,000 to $363,000. This range reflects full-time total base compensation prior to consideration of additional experience or duties. Pay for the selected candidate will vary based on specialty, experience, FTE, internal equity, or external market data.
