Responsibilities
The Mayo Clinic Health System Eau Claire General Surgery and Trauma Department is hiring for an Acute Care Nurse Practioner or Physician Assistant for the Acute Care Surgery (ACS) Service. Mayo Cinic Health System Eau Claire is a certified Level 2 trauma center. The current practice consists of 6 Trauma Critical Care surgeons with 5 NP/PA’s. Due to department growth and patient needs, the department is looking to add an additional NP/PA to the TCGS team.
The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant works cooperatively with surgeons, APP's, and other allied health personnel. Job responsibilities include: inpatient evaluations and consultations of trauma and acute care general surgery patients, post-surgical care, and wound management. This position also includes outpatient clinic evaluation of trauma patients and post-hospital acute care surgery patients.
Responsibilities also include giving direction to various allied health staff. Tasks may include: comprehensive assessment, ordering, conducting and interpreting diagnostic tests, formulating a diagnostic impression, developing and implementing a treatment plan, monitoring the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions, prescription of pharmacological agents and non-pharmacological therapies.
Qualifications
Nurse Practitioner: Active Wisconsin R.N. license or eligibility to practice professional nursing in the state of Wisconsin. National certification (e.g. ANCC or AACN) as a Nurse Practitioner. Acute care certification preferred. Current prescriptive authority in the state of Wisconsin APNP certification. Current ACLS and BLS certification. Must complete ATLS certification within orientation period.
Physician Assistant: Current Wisconsin Physician Assistant License. Current ACLS and BLS certification. Must complete ATLS certification within orientation period.
Excellent verbal, written, and oral communication skills. * Demonstrated leadership ability. * Flexibility to adjust schedule to meet patient and staff needs. * Ability to manage time and stress effectively and adapt to unpredictable situations within the patient care setting.
