Responsibilities
Mayo Clinic in Florida is seeking a highly qualified Cardiothoracic Surgeon to join our growing surgical team. The ideal candidate will possess a robust clinical background, have experience in thoracic transplantation as well as subspecialty expertise in adult cardiac surgery and share a commitment to academic and scholarly excellence. This position offers a unique opportunity to be part of growing surgical practice within a world-renowned institution dedicated to providing outstanding patient care.

In addition to a broad-based practice in adult cardiac surgery and the close ties with other Mayo sites, Mayo Florida excels at providing streamlined patient care and excellent opportunities for academic and scholarly activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform complex cardiac surgical procedures with a focus on patient safety and optimal outcomes.
- Utilize advanced techniques and technologies, including Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO), Impella, and heart and lung transplant practices.
- Drive innovation and excellence in clinical practice, staying abreast of the latest advancements in cardiovascular surgery.
- Engage in ongoing academic and scholarly activities, contributing to laboratory or clinical research projects.
- Mentor and educate surgical fellows and other healthcare professionals, fostering a collaborative and educational environment.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive patient care and develop individualized treatment plans.
Qualifications:
- Board certified in Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
- Successful completion of a 2-3 year accredited cardiothoracic surgery fellowship.
- M.D., D.O., or equivalent degree, eligible for licensure to practice in Florida.
- Demonstrated evidence of continued academic and scholarly activity in laboratory or clinical research.
- Superb clinician with a deep understanding of cardiovascular surgery, and heart and lung transplantation.
- Ability to drive ongoing practice innovation and adopt new methodologies to enhance patient care.
- Adept at mentoring and guiding surgical fellows, residents, and other medical staff.
