Responsibilities
The Division of Medical Physics at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida, is seeking a board-certified Medical Physicist to join our growing team and help support our current clinical practice and aid in preparation for the first in the nation Carbon-Ion Therapy Center.
Candidates will have a record of accomplishment that demonstrates academic and clinical productivity in therapeutic medical physics, including clinical practice, project management, research achievement and educational excellence. Experience in a proton or carbon center is encouraged but not required.
Current equipment in the Department includes Varian TrueBeam linacs, a Gamma Knife ICON, Mobetron, GE CT simulator with wide bore and 4D capability, a Elekta Flexitron HDR remote after loader, Eclipse, ARIA and a full complement of dosimetry and detector systems for photon, proton and brachytherapy. Treatment procedures include all conventional radiation therapy plus specials that include IORT, TBI, TSET, HDR, SRS, SBRT, BH, and LDR eye plaques.
Construction started in 2022 of a new building that will include the first Carbon Therapy system in North America, a 2-gantry proton facility, MR and CT simulator, and conventional linacs.
The Medical Physics Division currently has twelve medical physicists and will grow substantially in the next several years in preparation and deployment of the particle therapy center. The Division also includes a medical physics residency program. The Division is a seasoned and cohesive team responsible for all aspects of therapy physics in support of clinical practice, education and research in radiation oncology.
Qualifications
Minimum qualifications include a Ph.D. and ABR board certification. Capability to attain a Florida State license is required.
