Responsibilities
Family Medicine Physician & Site Medical Director – Gate Parkway Primary Care Center, Jacksonville, FL
The Family Medicine Department in Jacksonville, Florida, is seeking a Board Certified / Board Eligible Family Medicine Physician to join the team at the Gate Parkway Primary Care Center. This unique role combines clinical practice with opportunities for leadership, innovation, and operational oversight.
Role Overview
This position offers a dynamic opportunity to lead and collaborate in delivering innovative care models. As a Family Medicine Physician, you will play a key role in workflows prioritizing preventive care, disease screening, and team-based asynchronous care delivery. In addition to clinical responsibilities, you will serve as the Site Medical Director, providing operational and clinical oversight in collaboration with the site leadership team.
The Gate Parkway Primary Care Center is part of a network of practices within the Department of Family Medicine, emphasizing patient-centered care and innovation in primary care delivery.
Leadership Responsibilities
As the Site Medical Director, you will:
- Serve as an exemplar of Mayo Clinic values for staff and patients.
- Assist in executing department initiatives in coordination with the Department Chair and administrative leadership.
- Encourage and support innovation and practice changes aligned with the strategic goals of Mayo Clinic.
- Partner with administrative leaders to guide and resolve human resource and operational issues.
- Support the Culture of Safety and foster a positive team culture.
- Mentor and onboard new physicians and Advanced Practice Providers (APPs).
- Provide clinical oversight for scheduling, access, and holiday planning.
- Develop and implement action plans based on staff experience results.
- Oversee team morale and organize team-building activities.
- Address clinical issues in collaboration with the nursing team lead and care team RN.
- Complete ongoing professional evaluation requirements for providers at the site.
Clinical Practice Highlights
- Outpatient-focused practice with advanced care delivery workflows.
- Collaborative practice model with paired Physician and Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA).
- Emphasis on virtual care and RN-supported management of acute and chronic needs.
- Night phone call rotation of approximately 1:15 and similar rotation for weekend clinic coverage.
Qualifications
Qualifications
- Board Certified / Board Eligible in Family Medicine.
- Eligible for or holding a Florida Medical License.
- Three years of experience strongly preferred; new resident graduates will also be considered.
- Experience with advanced care models in Family Medicine during residency or practice is preferred but not required.
