Responsibilities
Performs a wide variety of skilled tasks involved in the maintenance and repair of facility heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment and systems. Additionally, this person will provide assistance with the maintenance and repairs of the buildings Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing systems. The individual may work independently or as part of a team to accomplish department objectives.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities: 1. Perform various Preventive and Corrective Maintenance tasks to maintain and repair HVAC and Refrigeration equipment and systems. This includes mechanical, electrical, controls, and pneumatic components. 2. Apply analytical and manual skills in inspecting, maintaining, installing, calibrating, troubleshooting, and repairing air handler systems, rooftop units, fan coil units, VAV and CAV boxes, fans, motors, pumps, compressors, thermostats, icemakers, and walk-in coolers and freezers. 3. Conserve, install, and recycle CFC and HCFC refrigerants. 4. Proficient ability to use the Building Automation System to maintain an appropriate environment for patients and staff. 5. Assist with Preventive and Corrective Maintenance of building MEP systems. 6. Use a variety of machines, hand tools, and test equipment commonly used by HVAC/R Technicians including, but not limited to, multimeters, airflow hoods, flowmeters, and gauges. 7. Inspect the buildings and grounds to ensure safe, well maintained conditions and advise Supervisor of needed repairs. 8. Complete work orders as assigned and in a timely manner. 9. Maintain records on work projects completed; prepare written reports related to work assignments; document actions taken and present written progress reports. 10. Wear proper personal protective equipment while performing job duties. 11. Maintain inventory and recommend supplies and equipment for purchase. 12. All other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
Qualifications
Education: High School diploma or equivalent G.E.D required. Accredited HVAC/R trade school is preferred.
Experience: 3 years work experience as an HVAC/R technician in a commercial environment or 5 years work experience maintaining and repairing building HVAC/R equipment and systems.
1. Experience in a healthcare setting is preferred. 2. Ability to be on the department on-call schedule.
3. Ability to work nights and/or weekends per department schedule. 4. Experience with Chilled Water (CW) and Heating Hot Water (HHW) systems is preferred. 5. Ability to read and interpret building schematics. 6. Ability to measure, record, and interpret various test results (i.e. airflow measurements, water flow measurements, temperature, humidity). 7. Commitment to the highest standards of professionalism and integrity.
Licenses/Certifications: EPA 608 Technician Certification – Universal is required
