Responsibilities
Provides leadership, oversight, and supervision of activities specific to the Department of Pharmacy and provides strong, visible, values-driven leadership and advocacy for Pharmacy Services and the highest quality of medication use across the practice. Actively promotes, facilitates, and participates in departmental and inter-departmental activities and projects. Responsible for the daily oversight and supervision and performance management of direct reports. Manages pharmacy activities and services in alignment with the overall department program, incorporates best practices, emphasizes the safety and optimized outcomes of our patients, and delivers the highest value care to our patients and the organization. Ensures incorporation of, alignment with and support of institutional and departmental mission, vision, identity and strategic priorities. Manages pharmacy services to ensure that all quality, legal, regulatory and accreditation standards are met or exceeded. Actively participates in and supports pharmacy education and research programs and activities.
Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited College of Pharmacy (BS or PharmD) and four years of pharmacy practice experience plus one year of management experience OR Residency plus two years of pharmacy practice experience and one year of management experience required. Applicable pharmacy management experience includes providing, developing, implementing and overseeing progressive pharmacy operations in an integrated healthcare system and/or demonstrated ability of providing progressive services and leadership as a pharmacist. Strong commitment and evidence of achieving excellence. Demonstrated ability of successfully working in a team environment. Communicates effectively. Strong commitment to patient care and alignment with Mayo Clinic values.The following are preferred: Master's degree in related field (e.g. MHA, MBA, MPH). Completion of an accredited pharmacy residency. Completion of leadership or management educational programs (e.g. ASHP leadership program, Mayo programs). Demonstration of experience in quality improvement, patient safety, accreditation/regulatory standards, and expense management. History of active participation and leadership in pharmacy professional organizations. Eligible for licensure by the Florida Board of Pharmacy. Current Florida Board of Pharmacy Consultant Pharmacist License (if none, licensure within 12 months of hire).
