Responsibilities
Manager collaborates with Director and Assistant Director to provide leadership and oversight of PM&R Therapy three-shield practices in alignment with the Mayo Clinic strategic and operational plans, Mayo Model of Care, as well as the PMR Operational Plan.
Collaborates with medical and allied health staff in the establishment of the vision and the strategic direction of assigned practices. Facilitates the attainment of departmental goals and objectives to promote optimal patient care, research and education. Acts as a steward of resource to achieve goals aligned with program direction. Collaborates with the Director to develop programs. Recruits, develops and supports the professional development of the therapy staff. Assures regulatory compliance within assigned areas of responsibilities and in collaboration with Director and peers in MCR, MCA and Mayo Clinic Health System. Establishes external networks to facilitate benchmarking and practice excellence. Demonstrates leadership within and outside PM&R department to promote a model of
excellence In practice, education, research and administration. Maintains active and current general knowledge of the practice and is willing to provide patient care as required. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited Physical or Occupational Therapy Program
• Post-professional graduate degree in health care or business related field (or will obtain within three years of date of hire)
• Licensed or eligible for licensure in the state of Florida.
• A minimum of five years relevant PM&R practice experience including at least two years of management/leadership experience with multi-disciplinary groups of health care professionals
• Demonstrated ability for problem solving, decision-making, continuous improvement and financial accountability
• Computer skills including electronic medical record, word processing, spreadsheet and data base applications.
• Active membership in respective professional organization at state and/or national level.
• Ability to communicate effectively, to work collaboratively with others, and to work
independently with minimal supervision.
Doctorate in Physical or Occupational Therapy or a Ph.D. in a related scientific field.
• Prior experience within an academic medical center and personal evidence of scholarly activities related to teaching, publication and/or extramural funding applications
• Extensive background in physical medicine and rehabilitation and the knowledge to
effectively coordinate activities throughout a diverse practice and broad continuum of patient care services
• Evidence of leadership in state or national professional organization
• Project leadership and coordination experience
• Formal training or experience in Quality/Value improvement, patient safety, Joint
Commission - CARF & other accrediting body standards, and expense management.
