Responsibilities
- Produces high quality images for the Diagnostic Imaging department, we well as assigned areas including the operating department, pain management, and the gastrointestinal department that meet the standards established by the Mayo Clinic Radiology Department.
- Completes records, information, and performs electronic entry accurately.
- Identifies patients using two patient identifiers, verifies order, and analyzes exam information.
- Demonstrates knowledge of anatomy, body habitus, and proper patient positioning for various imaging studies
- Utilizes resources available to achieve optimum exam.
- Consistently applies correct identification and labeling of images and/or specimens to ensure accuracy.
- Demonstrates initiative and problem solving while exhibiting judgment and realistic understanding of situations. Involves other individuals when appropriate.
- Follows appropriate medication administration and documentation.
- Responsible for learning the radiographic protocols and unique projections necessary to assist our specialty providers.
- Requires competence in a wide variety of equipment, technologies, and supplies.
- Directs and practices safety guidelines for themselves, other staff members, and patients.
- Adheres to infection control policies.
- Participates in emergency preparedness procedures.
- Complete safety training as required.
- Adheres to proper safety attire and imaging parameters for exams.
- Educates and screens patients, families, and caregivers for contraindications to an exam.
- Maintains a clean, organized, and stocked work area.
- Provides the highest quality patient care by placing the needs of the patient first.
- Coordination of patient and workflow efficiency. Review charts for current information, take pertinent history, and ensure the provider's orders are carried out and completed.
- Fosters a culture of teamwork, professionalism, and mutual respect.
- Assists in the orientation training and education of new staff and students.
- Participates as an educator and/or preceptor to others as assigned.
- Utilizes orientation and competency documents.
- Provides opportunities for new employees and students to develop their skills.
- Provides and offers direct and indirect supervision and assistance as necessary.
- Responds to questions and offers positive reinforcement and constructive feedback.
- Demonstrates professional conduct and interacts effectively with physicians, supervisors, and allied health professionals.
- Exercises independent judgment in handling or referring patient care issues. Problem solves in a self-directed and effective manner.
- Demonstrates a pleasant helpful manner in servicing requests even in difficult circumstances.
- Displays a professional appearance and impression appearing to dress code guidelines.
- Assists with questions from physicians, allied health professionals, and visitors.
- Complies with policy regarding time keeping and attendance.
- Maintains and enhances professionalism, job competencies, skills, and licensure.
- Attends and participates in classes, seminars, workshops and other continuing education.
- Maintains appropriate licensure certification continuing education and or mandatory education.
- Identifies and participates in continuous improvement activities.
- Participates in the 360 review process by providing constructive feedback and adhering to deadlines
- Gives direction to Technologist Assistants
- Provides direct and indirect supervision to technologist assistants.
- Ensures technologists assistance are performing within job scope.
- Performs Clinical Research protocols per IRB criteria.
- Maintains Quality Control (QC) of the scanners and equipment.
- Checks, performs, and monitors quality control measures on equipment per department guidelines.
- Maintains flexibility to staff various work locations, shift times and lengths, and take call as required by the department.
Additional responsibilities may include: Proficiency in operating bone density scanner and accurately analyzing results, performing High Rise Standing CT scans, administration of contrast agents or dyes, under supervision of Radiologist, as required for certain imaging procedures, performing sterile technique to set up a variety of musculo-sketal, urology, and neurology procedures.
Qualifications
Graduated from an accredited Radiography program.
Associates degree and one year of experience as a Radiologic Technologist preferred.
License or Certification
Florida License in Radiography
ARRT registration in Radiography (R)
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 90 days of start date
