Responsibilities
The Executive Director, Business Development (BD) in Arizona is highly knowledgeable in intellectual property development/commercialization, investing, corporate transactions, finance, analysis, board membership and strategic partnerships and will be tasked on multiple projects, many times requiring complex workouts or contracting solutions. The position may have direct reports and works in partnership with BD executive leadership and leadership of various Mayo Clinic functional areas across the enterprise and particularly in Arizona. Will understand market trends and be able to successfully translate for relevance to Mayo and will serve on one or more boards for Mayo portfolio companies. The Executive Director will have a significant role in developing existing talent and helping to onboard new talent and will have outstanding communication skills and be able to successfully interact with the Mayo Board of Governors and Board of Trustees. Must have the ability to drive value through deal making and working to address complex deals and relationships. Will be a member of the department executive committee and a high-level leader within the organization. Must also exhibit strong financial acumen, an understanding of business strategy and operations and will use metrics and analytics to support business decisions to drive performance.
This position is expected to be onsite in Arizona full time supporting an incredibly fast-paced business professional setting. Must live within driving distance of the Arizona campus.
Qualifications
Master's degree required plus 10 years business experience including demonstrated ability in development and execution of business priorities. Experience representing senior levels of an organization, including in investing and deal making. P/l responsibility preferred.
Synthesis of financial and competitive data to inform decision making.
Drive investment decisions and create value throughout the life of the investment.
Active management of investments.
Successful participation as a board of director.
Effective communication with top committees and leaders.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Track record of successfully developing talent.
Ability to use art of persuasion and influence to achieve business objectives.
Alignment to Mayo’s values, mission and strategy.
