Responsibilities
The Division of Surgical Oncology at Mayo Clinic in Arizona is seeking a full-time academic HPB surgeon to join our high-volume, multidisciplinary surgical oncology practice. Preference will be given to board-certified surgeons who have completed fellowship training through either the American Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association (AHPBA) or the Complex General Surgical Oncology (CGSO) pathway. This position is ideally suited for an experienced surgeon with a strong foundation in both robotic and open HPB surgery, and who is enthusiastic about contributing to an expanding clinical program with a focus on innovation and excellence.
Our practice has seen rapid growth in our robotic Whipple program, which has quickly become one of the busiest practices in the country. The incoming surgeon will play a key role in further advancing the use of minimally invasive techniques while continuing to provide expert open surgical care. There is also potential to expand the surgical pancreatitis practice, working closely with our advanced interventional GI endoscopists. Candidates should possess outstanding clinical judgment, technical excellence, and a genuine interest in collaborative, patient-centered care.
In addition to clinical duties, the successful candidate will be expected to contribute meaningfully to the education of residents in our ACGME-accredited general surgery residency program. Teaching and mentorship are integral to our mission, and faculty are encouraged to actively participate in shaping the next generation of surgical leaders. There is a strong institutional commitment to academic advancement, with a robust infrastructure to support clinical research, quality improvement, and innovation initiatives.
Mayo Clinic in Arizona is located in Phoenix and Scottsdale, consistently ranked among the most desirable places to live in the United States. As part of the larger Mayo Clinic enterprise, our Arizona campus benefits from a deeply integrated model of care that fosters collaboration across disciplines and locations. Our culture emphasizes teamwork, integrity, and continuous learning, and we are proud to be part of an organization that has been ranked the best hospital in Arizona by U.S. News & World Report for the past 12 years. Mayo Clinic has also been recognized by FORTUNE magazine as one of the “100 Best Companies to Work For,” a reflection of our ongoing commitment to employee well-being, professional development, and a supportive work environment.
We offer a highly competitive compensation package that includes comprehensive benefits, relocation assistance, and opportunities for career growth within one of the world’s most respected academic medical centers. Candidates must be eligible for medical licensure in Arizona.
If you are a skilled HPB surgeon who is passionate about advancing surgical care through innovation, education, and research, we invite you to apply online and learn more about this exceptional opportunity at Mayo Clinic in Arizona.
License/Certification: Preference will be given to surgeons who are board certified in General Surgery and have completed fellowship training through either the American Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association (AHPBA) or the Complex General Surgical Oncology (CGSO) pathway and are eligible for medical licensure in Arizona.
