ResponsibilitiesThe Patient Care Assistant (PCA) assists nursing staff with delegated tasks of direct and indirect patient care which support and complement nursing practice under the supervision of a registered nurse. At a minimum, the PCA carries out designated skills that are within those functions of a certified nursing assistant, as defined by the Arizona State Board of Nursing. The incumbent must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development through the life span and appropriately interpret information relative to the patient's age-specific needs. The PCA communicates data reflective of the patient's status and delegated tasks and/or functions. The incumbent works flexible hours, which may include days, evenings, nights, holidays, and weekends.
The skills and responsibilities of a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) align closely with those of a Patient Care Assistant (PCA) and Patient Care Technician (PCT), making this a great opportunity for those with CNA experience.

5 Central’s Success Tool Kit:
- A strong voice to advocate for your patient. You got into nursing to care for and help those who need someone to speak up for them. At the Mayo Clinic Arizona, you will use that voice. #Compassion #Healing
- A great multidisciplinary team. The best patient experiences do not happen because of one great physician or nurse or specialist. They happen when we bring together highly skilled teams who are hyper-focused on creating the best outcomes. #Excellence #Innovation
- Mutual Respect and Trust. It is not enough to have a bunch of smart people advocating for patients. There must be a culture of safety, so those people can speak up—regardless of job title. #Respect #Integrity
- A willingness to learn. Our staff care for complicated medical patients. We do not expect you to know it all. We believe in and are proud of the quality of our nursing practice. On 5 Central you will have resources and a team available to support your career. #Teamwork
- Compensation and benefits. You can take better care of our patients when Mayo Clinic is taking care of you. There are way too many benefits to list here, so we’ll just leave this link here for you: Benefit highlights booklet
During the selection process you may participate in a virtual (pre-recorded) interview that you can complete at your convenience. During the virtual interview, a question will appear on your screen, and you will have time to consider each question before responding.
