Responsibilities
The Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, is seeking a highly motivated candidate that is fellowship trained in foot and ankle surgery and ABOS certified or eligible. They should have expertise in foot and ankle reconstruction, sports-related foot and ankle injuries, deformity correction, and complex hindfoot and forefoot pathology to join our academic medical practice in the Foot and Ankle Surgery Division. The ideal candidate will have a robust background in clinical research, with a foundation in basic science investigation, and demonstrate experience presenting their work on regional and national platforms.
This is an exceptional opportunity to join a collaborative, multidisciplinary Division with internationally recognized faculty and an established reputation for clinical excellence in treating a broad spectrum of foot and ankle conditions — from routine deformities to complex revision cases and post-traumatic reconstructions — for patients referred from around the country and world. The selected candidate would also collaborate with colleagues across Mayo Clinic practices in Arizona and Florida.
The Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Mayo Clinic is unified in its vision to definitively improve the care of orthopedic patients, not just at Mayo Clinic, but for patients nationwide and worldwide. Therefore, candidates must demonstrate a strong commitment to publishing high-quality, peer-reviewed original research and providing daily orthopedic education to residents. Regular, high-level participation in extramural academic and CME activities with national and regional orthopedic and foot & ankle surgical organizations is expected. It is further expected that surgeons practicing within the Mayo Clinic Division of Foot and Ankle Surgery seek leadership opportunities within specialty societies. Candidates must have strong interpersonal skills, be interested and familiar in working within a multidisciplinary team approach and have hospital-based experience.
This is a 1.0 FTE clinical/surgical position, and the selected candidate is expected to deliberately build a differentiated destination practice that attracts regional, national, and international patients. As the clinical practice matures, protected time for research and education can be earned, though the initial focus will be on establishing a world-class clinical presence. The Department is well-resourced and offers substantial support for both clinical and basic science research in biomechanics, artificial intelligence, soft-tissue biology, bone biology, and cartilage science.
Our state-of-the-art practice is directly supported with close relationships with nonoperative podiatry colleagues. The Division of Foot and Ankle Surgery maintains a strong commitment to education, research, and team-based care in partnership with leading divisions in Sports Medicine, Trauma, and Total Joint Reconstruction.
