ResponsibilitiesDevelops and designs informatics solutions aligning with clinical practice or business needs. Translates domain specific data, information, and knowledge e.g. Surgical Enhanced Recovery Pathway, for use in informatics solutions. Works with subject matter experts (e.g. providers, clinical informaticians, HR systems analysts) on deploying informatics solutions into the clinical or business workflow. Identifies the most relevant existing translational informatics and data science approaches, adapting them to a specific problem and validating the results using the best methods. Working knowledge of informatics methods used to analyze data and basic knowledge of healthcare data types, topics, and approaches. Executes analytical procedures in the framework of a specific project. Applies and modifies existing scripts or software applications to support data management, data extraction and data analysis as required. May implement knowledge representation, integration, and analysis of genomic, clinical, signal, or imaging data as associated with patient electronic health record (EHR). Working knowledge of data governance principles and best practices including nomenclature, provenance/pedigree, and data structures. Other responsibilities:
• Demonstrates an understanding of the functions and operations of the departments with which they work.
• Is familiar with the existing technologies used by departments and how they interact.
• Applies the most relevant existing translational informatics approaches, adapting them to a specific problem and may perform validation of the results as supervised by a senior analyst.
• Works with clinical departments to ensure the adoption and application of newly derived knowledge into the practice.
• Presents findings in easy to understand terms for the business or clinical practice.
• Awareness of clinical or business workflows and informatics/AI impact on them.
• Competence in applying newly derived knowledge into the clinical or business workflow.
• Uses change management principles to implement change management plan.
QualificationsBachelor’s degree in a domain-relevant field such as bioinformatics, clinical informatics, biomedical engineering, computer science, data science, health science, or other analytical/quantitative field. Nursing, Pharmacy, and other medical sciences with informatics training.Aware of the complex environment in implementing translational solutions, with respect to the socio-economical, behavioral, and ethical considerations. Core competencies in use the underlying technologies of networking, security, and cloud computing. Working knowledge of the technical ecosystem and the capabilities provided by the data, identity, and integration platforms. May require working knowledge of the EHR configuration and methods for integrating external clinical applications with the EHR. Working knowledge of digital strategies for connecting with internal and external systems such as integrating external clinical applications with the EHR. Draws upon the social, cognitive and behavioral sciences to inform the design and evaluation of informatics solutions. Working knowledge of human factors design principles and how to apply to clinical informatics.
