Responsibilities
The Cardiovascular Tech (CVT) performs multiple roles within the cardiac laboratory including assisting physician(s) with invasive cardiac laboratory procedures and conducting various cardiac tests to monitor patients' heart and blood vessel conditions using diverse cardiology equipment.
Responsibilities may also include preparing procedure rooms, prepping patients for procedures, obtaining and recording patient information, assisting physicians in procedure by circulating and scrubbing procedures, X-ray fluoroscopy proficiency, acquire/measure/calculate hemodynamic date, perform blood work analysis, operate intra-cardiac ultrasound, clean procedure rooms, and preparing instruments for resterilization.
Directs and practices safety guidelines for themselves, staff and patients.
Independently functions during diagnostic and interventions with minimal supervision.
Maintains a high level of expertise in specialty procedures within their assigned lab.
Within the Cath Lab this may include structural procedurals and hemodynamics; within Heart Rhythm Services Lab, techs perform device and electrophysiology procedures (EP), hybrid extractions, and operate 3D mapping systems. Will be required to work varied hours, shift lengths and respond to an on-call pager which may include days, evenings, nights, holidays and weekends.

Qualifications
Candidate is required to meet the following educational criteria to be eligible to sit for the RCIS or RCES exam through Cardiovascular Credentialing International.
A graduate of a diploma, associate, or baccalaureate academic program in health science (includes, but not limited to, cardiovascular technology, ultrasound, radiologic technology, respiratory therapy, or nursing).
Required to have at least 3 years of patient care experience.
Preferred to have at least 1 year of procedural/surgical working experience.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
Incumbent in this role must actively work towards becoming RCIS or RCES certified, which makes them eligible for a promotion to the Cardiac Invasive Lab Tech position.
Candidate is required to pass the RCIS or RCES exam within 18 months of being hired
